Our mission is to develop modern, personalized, and reliable shopping journeys that differentiate eBay in a competitive marketplace.We build scalable, modular Android features that integrate deeply with eBay’s buyer ecosystem — search, recommendations, authenticity guarantees, structured data, and personalization systems.What You’ll DoAs an SW3 Android Engineer, you will:Design, build, and maintain high-quality native Android features using KotlinTranslate product and design requirements into clean, scalable, testable production codeContribute to modular architecture with loosely coupled, reusable componentsImplement modern Android design patterns (MVVM, MVI, unidirectional data flow)Write unit tests and automation tests for shipped featuresParticipate actively in code reviews and raise engineering quality across the teamCollaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Backend, Data, and Platform teamsPropose multiple technical design approaches with tradeoffs and effort estimatesDebug production issues using monitoring and observability toolsImprove performance, reliability, and crash-free metricsContribute to documentation and knowledge sharing across the orgThis role requires strong ownership of features from design through launch and iteration.What You Bring4+ years of professional experience in native Android developmentStrong proficiency in Kotlin, including coroutines, lambdas, flows, and advanced language featuresExperience with modern Android architecture componentsExperience building modularized Android applicationsFamiliarity with dependency management (Gradle, Artifactory)Understanding of memory management and performance optimizationExperience with unit testing and Android testing frameworksExperience working with CI/CD pipelinesBasic understanding of system design for large-scale consumer mobile applicationsFamiliarity with production monitoring and debugging toolsStrong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teamsA growth mindset and curiosity about emerging Android technologies (e.g., Jetpack Compose, performance tooling, AI-assisted features)What We OfferImpactful Technical ChallengesAt Buyer Experiences, we’re modernizing and personalizing eBay’s shopping journey. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including RRSP eligibility, various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
