We are seeking a Bioinformatics Intern with a passion for building software tools and automating workflows that directly support R&D, Process Development, and Manufacturing teams. The successful candidate will write scripts and algorithms to streamline data workflows, work closely with our LIMS system (Benchling) to support R&D operations, develop internal web applications, and build testing frameworks that improve system reliability and scalability across the organization. This is a hands-on role offering the opportunity to work with innovative technology and collaborate with a highly talented, cross-functional team to accelerate our mission of addressing unmet research and medical needs.
Responsibilities
Develop and deploy internal web applications (e.g., using Streamlit or Flask) that support R&D, Process Development, and Manufacturing scale-up workflows.
Write Python scripts and develop algorithms to automate data wrangling, parsing, and analysis tasks, reducing manual effort and improving operational efficiency.
Work actively with our LIMS system (Benchling) to develop, improve, and maintain algorithms and workflows that support R&D teams.
Build unit and integration tests for internal applications and data pipelines to strengthen system reliability, scalability, and code quality.
Collaborate with scientists and engineers across R&D, Process Development, and Manufacturing to understand workflow requirements and translate them into robust software solutions.
Integrate data from multiple sources and platforms, including LIMS, APIs, and internal pipeline tools, ensuring data consistency, accuracy, and traceability.
Use version control (Git) and software development best practices to manage code, track changes, and support collaborative development.
Contribute to team discussions by sharing knowledge and promoting best practices in software engineering, testing, and automation.
Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree in bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Strong Python skills, including experience with scripting, automation, and algorithm development.
Comfort working with the command line and performing data wrangling tasks.
Familiarity with Git for version control.
Exposure to API integration, automated testing (unit and integration tests), or pipeline development is a plus.
Experience or coursework involving web application development using Python frameworks (e.g., Streamlit, Flask) is a plus.
Experience leveraging AI agents and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate work output and improve productivity is a plus.
Must be self-motivated with a positive "can do" attitude and strong project management skills.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $25/hour - $35/hour. Our salary ranges are determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
