As a specialized team within our broader Data & Analytics organization, we serve as strategic thought partners—combining deep domain expertise in geospatial analytics with strong cross-functional relationships across Product, Engineering, and Data Science. We don't just report on what happened; we shape what happens next by turning location data into actionable insights that improve how families stay connected and safe. About the Job The Manager of Locations Analytics is a player/coach role that blends strategic leadership with hands-on analytics work. You'll lead a small team of product analysts (with growth potential) while staying deeply involved in critical analyses, complex experiments, and high-visibility projects. Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Data Science, and Marketing, you'll define success metrics, design experiments, and translate complex location data into insights that drive product strategy. The ideal candidate thrives in the intersection of doing and teaching—someone who can run a sophisticated causal analysis one day and coach an analyst through their first experiment design the next, all while building an experimentation culture that delivers measurable business impact. For candidates based in the US, the salary range for this position is $148,000 to $218,500 USD. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary - therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. What You’ll Do Team Leadership & Development Manage, mentor, and grow a team of product analysts, fostering a culture of curiosity, rigor, and data-driven decision-making Develop team members' technical and strategic skills, creating clear career progression paths Strategic Partnership & Influence Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing leaders to define success metrics, set KPIs, and establish growth targets for location-based features Influence product roadmap decisions through compelling data narratives and strategic recommendations Serve as the analytics thought leader for the Locations Operating Group, translating complex location patterns into actionable product insights Measurement & Experimentation Design and execute comprehensive experimentation roadmaps, including A/B tests, feature rollouts, and causal analyses Build and maintain testing frameworks that enable the organization to learn quickly and ship confidently Define and monitor North Star metrics and success criteria for location product initiatives Analysis & Insights Conduct deep-dive analyses on user behavior, feature performance, and product health metrics Transform billions of location events into clear insights about how families use Life360 Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership with clarity and conviction Operational Excellence Develop scalable dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics tools that democratize data access Stay current on industry trends in product analytics, experimentation methodologies, and location-based technologies Continuously improve team processes, tools, and best practices What We’re Looking For Experience 7+ years in product analytics, data science, or related field 2+ years managing and developing analytics teams Deep experience in a B2C subscription or mobile app business, with demonstrable understanding of subscription metrics (retention, churn, LTV, cohort analysis) Proven track record building and scaling experimentation cultures that drive product decisions Technical Expertise Expert-level SQL for complex data manipulation and analysis Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages for statistical analysis Strong experience with modern data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, or similar) Deep understanding of experimentation methodologies: A/B testing, causal inference, statistical significance, and experiment design Familiarity with product analytics platforms (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment) Experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or Databricks) Core Competencies Analytical rigor : Ability to transform ambiguous questions into structured analyses and turn complex data into clear, actionable insights Executive communication : Exceptional ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences, including senior leadership Strategic thinking : Track record of connecting insights to business strategy and influencing high-stakes product decisions Cross-functional influence : Success building relationships and driving alignment across Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Marketing teams without formal authority People leadership : Demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain top analytics talent while fostering inclusive, high-performing team cultures Preferred Qualifications Experience with geospatial or location-based analytics Background in mobile app product analytics Experience with machine learning or predictive modeling Bachelor's degree in Economics, Quantitative Social Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field (Master's degree a plus, but not required—we value demonstrated skills and impact over credentials) Our Benefits Competitive pay and benefits.
