Engineering Operations Intern - Tools and Services

This is a remote position that could be based anywhere in the United States or Canada. Calix is looking for a Tools and Services Intern to join our Engineering Operations Team for the summer months. You will be part of a unique and award-winning program within the company which provides the opportunity to learn new skills through training and on the job learning. The duration of the program is expected to be 90 days.In this role, you will work under the guidance of senior engineers to enhance and expand the automations implemented by Engineering Operations - Tools and Services team. This may include scripts in Python, PHP, or re-design of front-end using JavaScript and NodeJS. The results of your work will be used by several teams to perform day to day development and test related activities.Responsibilities and Duties: Work with our Software Configuration Management (SCM) team oto support ongoing projects and initiativesAssist in the development and maintenance of tools and systemsAdd new features to existing frameworksCreate the required accompanying technical documentationCollaborate with team members to identify and solve problemsAutomate repetitive tasks using scripts and internal tools Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree program majoring in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Preference will be given to students who have completed their Junior or Senior years and who have previous internship or work experienceKnowledge of Python, PHP, C/C++ or Java, MySQL, JavaScriptFamiliar with Linux and Windows OSFamiliar with source control applications such as GITStrong Organizational skillsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environmentStrong communication skills and excellent telephone presenceAble to work for the complete summer break (May - August or June - September)#LI-Remote  The base pay range for this position varies based on the geographic location.
