The Data Team plays a critical role in providing insights that drive business strategy and empower data-driven decision making across the organization. We are looking for a technical leader to help guide the team and shape the future of our data platform. What you’ll do: As Lead Data Engineer you will set the technical direction for the data engineering team and own the strategy, maintenance, and operations of our data platform. You’ll lead a team of data engineers while staying hands-on with architecture decisions and technical leadership. A key focus will be maintaining and building feature stores and ML infrastructure to power our machine learning models, enabling personalized experiences for millions of healthcare professionals. What we’re looking for:   We’re looking for a technical leader who combines deep data engineering expertise with the ability to mentor, coach, and grow a high-performing team. Ideally, you bring: 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering or software engineering, with 2+ years in a leadership or management role Proven experience designing and operating data platforms at scale Strong experience with Python and SQL Deep expertise with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift Experience building and maintaining feature stores and ML infrastructure Knowledge of AWS technologies like DynamoDB , Lambda , SageMaker , and Kinesis Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools like CloudFormation or Terraform Experience with Airflow , DBT , and data orchestration best practices Hands-on experience with streaming data pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis, or similar) Track record of mentoring engineers and building high-performing teams Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders Your First Year at Vivian Within one month, you’ll Have onboarded with the team and developed a deep understanding of our current data architecture Complete 1:1s with all data team members and key stakeholders across the organization Identify quick wins for platform reliability and operational improvements Within three months, you’ll Own the data platform roadmap and have alignment with engineering and product leadership Implement improved monitoring, alerting, and observability for data pipelines Begin design and architecture work for the feature store initiative Within six months, you’ll Have launched the first iteration of our feature store, enabling ML teams to access curated features Establish best practices for data quality, testing, and documentation across the team Drive tech stack decisions for real-time data infrastructure Within a year, you’ll Have built a robust, scalable data platform that serves as the foundation for all analytics and ML initiatives Power real-time feature pipelines that enable personalized experiences for millions of users Have grown and developed a high-performing data engineering team What we provide: (Benefits & Perks) The range for this position is $190,000 - $220,000 yearly salary plus equity, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills.
