What the Role Is Babylist is looking for a Director of Planning Operations to build, scale, and elevate the operational backbone of our Planning organization. In this role, you’ll ensure our teams have the systems, processes, tools, and data they need to plan confidently and execute effectively. You’ll partner closely with Merch Planning, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Data, Finance, Engineering, and Operations to streamline workflows, increase visibility, and support Babylist’s growth. You bring a continuous improvement mindset, deep curiosity about new tools and technologies, and a passion for building infrastructure that scales. You’ll lead major cross-functional initiatives, optimize our planning tech stack, champion AI adoption, and serve as the connective tissue between Planning Operations and senior leadership. Who You Are A strategic, systems-oriented operations leader with 8–12+ years of experience in planning, operations, supply chain or technical product management within a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Skilled at building tools, processes, and operational frameworks that scale—balancing long-term structure with near-term realities, and experienced in implementing and owning software tools that support planning and operational excellence. Experienced with forecasting, capacity planning, and scenario planning. Strong analytical thinker who uses data to diagnose issues, inform decisions, and influence outcomes. Comfortable owning a complex planning systems ecosystem and implementing new technologies, integrations, and workflow improvements. A collaborative partner who works seamlessly across Planning, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering and Data teams. A capable and inspiring leader who builds high-performing teams, sets clear expectations, and invests in developing talent. You're comfortable and enthusiastic about working in an AI-forward environment where AI tools are part of daily operations You embrace using technology to enhance your work while keeping people at the center How You Will Make An Impact Optimize planning operations across the organization—driving standardization, best practices, and continuous improvement in how teams plan, forecast, and execute. Own, manage and monitor for accuracy and quality the planning systems and tools ecosystem, including: EDI Intuendi (inventory planning system) Internal tools: Low WOS, Promo Tool, Container Calculator, JBP Forecast Tool Establish, track, and report on key operational KPIs. Use data to identify trends, surface opportunities, and drive corrective actions. Build and evolve efficient, scalable processes for e-commerce and planning teams—such as promo forecasting, JBP forecasting, container ordering, and Perfect PO—and roll them out cross-functionally. Build scalable processes, tools, and reporting that increase visibility and accountability across inventory flow, replenishment, demand planning inputs, order management, and operational execution. Manage the OMS team in PO placement, ensuring order flow adheres to the unit forecast agreed upon by Planning, Supply Chain, and Finance. Stay ahead of industry trends, evaluate emerging technologies, and benchmark Babylist’s planning operations against best-in-class practices. Serve as the bridge between Planning Operations and senior leadership—ensuring alignment on strategy, surfacing risks, and providing clear, actionable insights that support decision-making. Oversee implementation, integration, and maintenance of planning systems to ensure data accuracy, system connectivity, and workflow automation. Lead organizational education / training and change management as new tools, processes, or planning structures are introduced—driving clarity, adoption, and alignment. Lead and mentor a high-performing Planning Operations team (Item Setup, Ops). Set clear goals, provide coaching, and build engagement and capability across the team. Partner closely with the Director of Planning to ensure tools and processes support the broader Planning organization’s needs and long-term strategy. Lead the Planning organization’s AI adoption—identifying opportunities, guiding implementation, and ensuring the entire team gains confidence and capability as AI becomes a core part of daily workflows. High adoption and effective usage of planning tools, systems, and workflows across the organization. Strong operational accuracy and system reliability (data flows, integrations, automation). The starting salary range for this role is: $158,945 to $190,692 Your starting salary will be based on your location, experience, and qualifications, with increases over time tied to performance, role growth, and internal pay equity.
