A data center infrastructure subject matter expert (SME) proficient in assessing mechanical and electrical plant designs and capacities. ResponsibilitiesSpace Planning & DesignAssessing existing and to be build data center designs in order to determine design limitations for all colocation spaces and infrastructure topology levelsPartners with capacity engineers (CE) to act as SME for load fail-over analysisAssists with customer behavior modeling and tool development·A subject matter expert (SME) of complex and unique Cage-Cabinet design options that respond to customer requirements, Equinix requirements and physical site constraints, as well as finding design solutions for issues that have escalated to a high management levelProvides and validates test-fits for new data center developments for unique solutioningMaximizes space utilization to develop the best expert design solutions for the data center and the customerPrepares notional Cage-Cabinet layouts, area calculations and diagrams for each individual data center and those sites that require Senior SME level requiring broad solutioning support                                  Acts as a mentor in solving complex unique space planning issues EngineeringSME of electrical/mechanical infrastructure to notionally attribute unique Cage-Cabinet designs against data center infrastructure within a broad ranged scopePrepare and performs high-density review cases engaging with other SME's or local sites where requiredPerforms the validation and updating of data center infrastructure data within capacity systems.Identifies unique issues or constraints in infrastructure capacity and prepares notional solutions for review by managementActs as a mentor to Supervisor, Capacity Management and below to solve complex engineering issuesStakeholder ManagementAwareness of key stakeholders across functional areas, and is able to map out stakeholder listsWith guidance able to identify the needs of stakeholders to keep them informedResponsible for overall capacity reporting and validation of capacity utilization reportsProblem SolvingSolves complex, cross-functional issues with business implications that span multiple groupsUsed broad expert knowledge of skills to identify and understands underlying issuesTakes the lead to solve complex issues with business leads and mitigate the risksData & Drawing ManagementWorks with site operations in discrepancy of documentations of added infrastructure in facilities and any special / complex installation of customer cagesEnsures that AutoCAD drawings represent what is installed at the siteLeads site teams to ensure data and CAD drawings accurately reflect the site installationsLeads the investigation of complex data issues without supportCan deal with complex data errors for complex installations and involves Business Leads to mitigate risks and to solve Equinix most critical data errorsLeads/coaches others to solve special/complex Drawing Management issuesCommunicationsCommunicates with a broader group of stakeholders beyond the capacity teamThe communication tools and templates used (i.e. emails, status reports) require approval and feedback from more senior colleaguesAbility to present technical discoveries and operational needs to business level stakeholders.Acts as a SME and provides direction to entry and intermediate planners as required to analyze and resolve out-of-process technical problemsCapacity Feasibility, Optimization and Risk ManagementMake recommendations to data center business owners to optimize data center efficiency and utilization for complex solutioningProactively leads the data center business to solve unique problemsCaptures a list of project risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies for their projectMay require support to manage risks effectivelyQualificationsDemonstrated subject matter expertise in data center infrastructure, typically 10+ years experienceDemonstrated proficiency in assessing mechanical and electrical plant designs and capacitiesproficient in assessing mechanical and electrical plant designs and capacities. Preference will be given to candidates who have previously held data center capacity engineering positionsBachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferredThe targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are: United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 136,000 - 204,000 USD / Annual Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 131,000 - 181,000 CAD / Annual Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training. The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
