We’re seeking Product Counsel to join CLEAR’s Legal team. In this role, you’ll partner closely with our Product, Engineering, Operations, Security and Business Development teams to support continued development of our product across CLEAR’s business lines including aviation, entertainment, financial services and healthcare. You’ll provide practical, business-oriented legal advice that supports CLEAR’s mission of delivering frictionless and trusted experiences. This position reports the VP, Product & Commercial and offers a unique opportunity to make an impact in a fast-growing, innovative environment.
What you'll do:
Serve as a key legal partner to CLEAR’s Product, Engineering, Growth and business teams across our platform and services
Advise product and engineering teams throughout the entire product development lifecycle, ensuring product features and designs comply with customer and regulator expectations and applicable laws, including privacy, consumer protection intellectual property, AI/ML use,and more
Navigate subscription frameworks, including auto renewal laws, and marketing complexity
Collaborate cross-functionally to drive CLEAR’s operational and strategic goals
Stay current on laws and regulations impacting CLEAR’s business, including data privacy, consumer protection and commercial law developments
Partner with security and privacy teams to ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA and other global data protection laws
Advise on global expansion
Draft and update product related terms of service, privacy policy and member agreements
Be a problem-solver who understands CLEAR’s business and delivers practical, actionable advice
How you'll measure success:
Deliver timely and practical legal support that accelerates product launches and drives business growth.
Build strong partnerships across business units through proactive and solution-oriented counsel.
Help implement scalable systems and processes that improve product development management.
What you're great at:
7+ years of relevant legal experience, including a combination of law firm and in-house experience at a technology company, with at least 2 years specializing in a product counsel role in-house.
Deep experience in product counseling and global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA, etc. .
Strong business acumen and ability to balance risk with commercial objectives.
Excellent judgment, communication, and drafting skills.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with privacy, data protection laws a must; familiarity with identity technology issues is a plus.
Must be admitted to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
Product savvy legal partner. You’ve served as a trusted advisor to product, engineering, and security teams, and know how to translate legal requirements into actionable advice for technical teams in product and engineering throughout the product development lifecycle.
Nice to haves:
Previous experience advising healthcare institutions or HIPAA
Demonstrated experience with privacy laws and building new product review processes Familiarity with global product launches and evolving artificial intelligence laws

The base salary range for this role is $180,000-220,000, depending on levels of skills and experience.
The base salary range represents the low and high end of CLEAR’s salary range for this position. Salaries will vary depending on various factors which include, but are not limited to location, education, skills, experience and performance. The range listed is just one component of CLEAR’s total compensation package for employees and other rewards may include annual bonuses, commission, Restricted Stock Units
