About the Role:   As a Cloud Engineer you will be a key member of the Cloud Engineering team. You will play a critical role in building Planet’s next generation Cloud infrastructure.  You will collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure our systems are scalable, reliable, and secure.  Your work will directly support Planet's mission by creating self-service environments for internal stakeholders, empowering them to efficiently utilize our cloud resources and accelerate their contributions to understanding our changing planet. This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work in our Ljubljana Slovenia office 3 days per week. Impact You’ll Own: Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code on GCP and AWS Automate operational tasks and improve system reliability through scripting Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems and container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes) Implement and manage networking solutions within cloud environments to ensure secure and efficient data flow Contribute to the continuous improvement of our cloud platforms, aligning with Planet's values of openness and a commitment to understanding the Earth What You Bring: 4+ years of relevant experience Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science or similar  Proficient experience with cloud platforms (GCP and AWS) Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python, Golang) Experience administering and troubleshooting Linux systems Experience working with Containers, Podman/Docker/Kubernetes Experience with networking concepts What Makes You Stand Out: Experience with implementing monitoring and logging tools in a cloud environment Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines Experience with database technologies Application Deadline: January 20th, 2026, 11:59pm PST Export Control Requirements: Planet Labs Germany GmbH is authorized to receive U.S. export-controlled information at Planet under an export license issued by the Bureau of Industry and Security.
