You’ll find belonging, purpose, and a team that welcomes you—because when you feel valued, you’re empowered to do your best work.Job SummaryEffectively interacts with other internal and external teams, including the design engineering, regional/site critical facilities engineering teams, onsite support vendors and consultants on projects, and policies/procedures to resolve complex matters.ResponsibilitiesTechnical ExpertiseHas thorough understanding of advanced electrical, fire protection, and HVAC systems operation including advanced optimization strategies and deficienciesHas expert controls system knowledge sufficient to rapidly comprehend new systemsExpert operating knowledge of control systems to include advanced diagnostics and repairsAbility to apply knowledge of Equinix process and procedure and industry standards to resolve complex issuesIs a subject matter expert to others inside and outside of the groupExtensive knowledge of multiple facets of controls engineeringDevelops and executes projectsIs responsible for the delivery of projects across multiple functional groupsMap infrastructure objects into the Equinix Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system for monitoring using BACnet, Modbus, OPC and other industry standard communications protocols.Work with local and regional critical facilities engineering staff, equipment vendors and software development team to coordinate DCIM monitoring of site infrastructure.Identify and/or develop solutions for integrating infrastructure monitoring systems into DCIM where required.Assure adherence to developed standards as DCIM systems is deployed. Troubleshoot all elements of the controls system, including field devices, controllers, network components and software systems.Assist on-site IBX Critical Facilities Engineering personnel in working with local controls vendors.Internal/External ContactContributes to mentoring junior team membersDirects internal and external project team membersDevelop Policy/MethodsParticipates in review of and contributes to development of policy and procedure documentsQualificationsProven years of experience in a critical facility environment preferred, including operations and design.  Emphasis & special focus on controls and DCIM.Strong knowledge of the BACnet, Modbus, and OPC communications protocols, including protocol definition, implementation strategie,s and troubleshooting.Experience with one or more brands of control systems ,including: Aveva, Siemens, Automated Logic Corporation (ALC), Johnson Controls, Rockwell Controllogix, Metasys, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Delta Controls, Delta-V, or AndoverAble to program and troubleshoot Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS).Able to understand control strategies and architecture using Sequence of Operation and P&ID drawingsEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.  If you are a qualified candidate and need assistance or an accommodation, please let us know by completing this form.
