You’ll find belonging, purpose, and a team that welcomes you—because when you feel valued, you’re empowered to do your best work.Job Summary:The Data Center Customer Operations Engineer is responsible for the prioritization, fulfillment, and quality assurance of time-bound ticket-driven requests within the data center, including expedite/negotiate, trouble tickets, smart-hands, installation/de-installation of cages/cabinets/cabling, custom orders, tape backups, escorts services, network Support, logistics support and security Support. The Data Center Customer Operations Engineer is also responsible for handling BMS alarm monitoring, first level issue on any incidents and performing daily site rounds to ensure that the Data Centre is maintained in a first-class condition.Our teams work across a 24/7 roster, split evenly at our Port Melbourne sites with onsite parking, transport links and onsite gym available.Key responsibilities:Queue Management / ReportingReviews work order requests in the queue and responds to semi-routine work orders by adhering to commitment timesEscalates and expedites orders to appropriate teams upon standard operating procedures; supervision needed on the escalation of non-standard procedure escalation requestsEnsures adherence to commit times within standard operating proceduresMaintains detailed written records of all work activityUpdates local asset databases and other systemsInstallationsRack and stack semi-routine customer equipment ticketsSupports intra-cage infrastructure installations by following the standard operating procedures of semi-routine customer installs, which may include: fiber trays, ladder racks, customer equipment and cabinets;Semi-basic cage installs for mesh and overhead cable trays; and, performs tape changes and standard operating back-up changesCross-ConnectSupports semi-routine data center standard operating cross-connect work order requests (installs, terminations, modifications, and testing) Ensures the standard operating procedures are followed on cable management of: coax, fiber, twisted pair copper, and semi-routine intra-building cross connectsLearns to install 'across' connect circuits (switched, multiplexed, etc.), under supervisionTesting / TroubleshootingSupports semi-routine standard operating testing and  standard operating installations of customer assetsSupports standard operating procedures of layer 1 cross-connect certification testingMay learn non-standard operating testing, such as: layer 2 and layer 3 testing, under supervisionStakeholder PartnershipSupports the operations and security personnel team for breaks or other activities, when necessarySupports standard operating procedural tasks provides back-up assistance to team members when necessaryCustomer ManagementSupports customer satisfaction with timely adherence to following semi-routine execution order requirementsDelivers a high level of service and an excellent customer experience when interfacing with customersProvides support with time expectations on new deployments and existing alterations, by following   standard operating procedure guidelinesSupports customers on-site by through access control and escorting servicesProjects and TrainingSupports fulfillment of projects that follow standard operating procedures; if projects deviate from standard procedures, then works under supervisionSupports vendors on projectsSupports physical customer auditsCompletes all assigned training in a timely mannerMay provide support to new hiresQualifications, skills and attributes:Tertiary qualifications in IT or Telco related courseAbility and willingness to participate in evenly split 24/7 roster, working 12 hour shifts commencing at 7am/7pmCommitment to teamwork with the ability to work autonomously also when requiredEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.  If you are a qualified candidate and need assistance or an accommodation, please let us know by completing this form.
