A Security Operations Intern is an integral part of the Information Security team at Workiva. You will gain real-world experience in the Security Operation Center (SOC) by helping resolve security issues, developing defensive capabilities, and maintaining Workiva’s security posture.What You'll DoDocument, investigate, and report on information security issues and emerging trendsProvide Incident Response support when an actionable incident is confirmedManage and configure tools and devices to expand our security monitoring infrastructureDevelop and maintain alerts, reports, and visualizations to assist with routine security and compliance tasksTriage and respond to reported and generated security alertsCollaborate with other teams to gather information regarding security problems, issues, and ideasWhat You'll NeedMinimum QualificationsCurrently enrolled in a degree-seeking program, preferably in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a similar degree program with a security focusPreferred QualificationsStrong ethical and discretionary ability to handle sensitive information and dataStrong communication and social networking skills (written, verbal, listening) to collaborate with other teams across the organizationExcellent critical thinking and problem-solving skillsSelf-motivated to research and understand how things workWorking knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systemsBasic competency in one or more programming languages (Python, Java, SQL, Go, and/or Dart)Familiarity with Splunk (SPL) query language and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS)Travel Requirements & Working ConditionsMinimal travelReliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva officeSponsorship RequirementsMust be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship now or in the futureWhen can you expect to hear back?We are committed to attending all career fairs and recruitment events before closing our positions.
