Your contributions set the scene for growth, success, and partnerships within an exciting circle of talented engineers.In this role, you will oversee the work of assigned techs and procure necessary test equipment while working with Leadership and Development / Test Engineers to design and build testbeds to support the needs of Engineering, Sales, and Calix customers. You will serve as the key liaison for your lab, offer ideas and guidance to be communicated across teams providing timely setup of equipment, buildouts of test beds and resolutions to issues. As an integral part of Calix, the Lab supports product development and release through best-in-class practices, a safe and productive work environment and 24 / 7 support of Product Testing Teams by our Global Team of Technicians and Engineers. Successful candidates will have leadership qualities, a technical background, be detail driven and have excellent problem-solving abilities. Option to work remotely.Responsibilities and Duties:Manage, motivate, oversee and work through, direct hired as well as contracted, Lab Techs and Engineers to design and setup testbeds and install equipment.Manage the lab help desk tickets generated and assign them to technicians.Ensure the adequate and timely resolution of any connectivity / network issues and the timely closing lab help desk tickets.Develop relations and collaborate with key stake holders in the Product. Development, Testing and Cloud Services Teams to understand and access their test setups and equipment requirements.Request quotes, submit requisitions and track delivery of ordered equipment and supplies.Maintain a record of service contracts, employee training and certifications, etc.Prepare and present detailed report of lab activities and turnaround time for tickets.Overall responsible for the smooth, accurate and efficient operations of the lab.Occasional travel required to visit labs and / or attend in-person meetings.Qualifications:Experience leading technical teams in an R & D environment.Comfortable managing contract workers with dotted line responsibilities.Project and organizational skills are a must.Understanding / knowledge of Juniper, Cisco and similar networking gear.Experience in lab design, network diagrams and rack layouts.Excellent written and verbal communications, teamwork, and conflict resolution skills.Preferred Qualifications:Understanding of switching systems, cabling, fiber optics, VOIP.Experience in telco infrastructure and theory.Familiar with Service Provider networks.Bachelor or University Degree in Networking / Computer Science related field.#LI-RemoteCompensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States.
