We are hiring an experienced and motivated Corporate Paralegal (Contract) to support Metagenomi’s growing business operations. The Paralegal will play a role in meeting various demands and supporting the Contracts Team, including review of contracts, contract database and file maintenance, research, and special projects. We are looking for an enthusiastic, “roll-up your sleeves'' candidate with great attention to detail and a desire to change the world. This position is located in Emeryville, California, with the option of hybrid, remote, or onsite. How you’ll contribute Administer routine contract requirements, maintain contract calendar Conduct research and resolve routine law questions under the guidance of a supervising attorney Prepare routine documents, agreements, and instruments, such as confidentiality and consulting agreements Maintain contract database Respond to internal legal information requests, including researching legal matters and historical information from company records and information regarding corporate entities and commercial transactions Manage special projects outsourced to consultants or outside counsel Various ad hoc projects under the supervision of the VP of Legal What you bring Undergraduate degree and Paralegal certification A minimum of five years of biotech contracts and/or corporate paralegal experience Experience supporting research, IP sciences/biotechnology industry Good understanding of standard contractual clauses and experience with drafting simple agreements (confidentiality agreements, statements of work, etc.) with minimal attorney supervision Ability to understand general business operations, issues, and dynamics beyond the scope of basic legal issues Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on written and verbal communication. Ability to clearly express oneself verbally and in writing with all employees and other business contacts in a courteous and professional manner Advanced proficiency with  Microsoft Office, Google Suite,  Adobe Acrobat, Docusign, and other office software tools Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment Extremely organized with a strong sense of priority, urgency, and a commitment to deadlines California Pay Transparency Disclosure: This position is classified as a non-exempt hourly position under the Federal Labor Standards Act.  The anticipated base hourly rate range for this position will be $45.00 to $53.00. You will also be eligible to receive equity, bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered.
