Automation Engineering ManagerStatus: ExemptDepartment: OperationsPosition SummaryThe Manager, Automation Engineering is responsible for developing, sourcing, building, installing, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment for Plug Power’s product lines of PEM electrolysis-based hydrogen generation systems and PEM Fuel Cell Power Systems. This role requires interactions with the mechanical, electrical, operations, supply chain, quality, and other manufacturing teams to ensure projects meet all cross functional requirements. The ideal candidate should exhibit exceptional communication, project management, and leadership skills. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to handle multiple project assignments and willing to learn and adapt within a fast-paced organization. Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead a structured, interdisciplinary approach for developing manufacturing equipment to support manufacturing including requirements capture, traceability, tradeoffs, and manufacturability to ensure products meet key quality, cost, and functional metrics.Ownership over quality and documentation of work product including component specifications, wiring harness details, CAD models of all equipment components, and manufacturing procedures.Ownership over prototyping physical designs with supply chain & manufacturing teamsExecute the internal document control process completely and consistently.Independently anticipate design or schedule risks and initiate plans for alternative actions as needed; able to rearrange competing priorities to ensure all deadlines are met.Hold design reviews throughout the development process.Cross-functional communication between departments to ensure all parties involved are informed and up to date on design efforts.Provide ongoing communication and updates to senior leadership regarding development progress and escalate priority issues so that obstacles can be cleared.Hire and provide ongoing training to a direct team, acting as a resource and mentor for technical guidance.Work professionally and cooperatively in a cross-functional team environment with a focus upon maximizing system performance and customer satisfaction.Represent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions.Perform all other duties as assigned.Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities. This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per weekEducation and ExperienceMinimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or another related fieldMinimum of ten (10) years relevant design or manufacturing experience in product development or project executionMinimum five (5) years of direct supervisory experience Experience modeling with PTC Creo or Solidworks is required.Experience in any of the following is preferred and highly valued:Hydrogen and/or fuel cellsOil and Gas, CNG, LNG, etc.Nuclear powerWater treatmentGas processing equipmentAbility to travel occasionally, up to 5% of the time.Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and OutlookStrong verbal and written communication skillsExceptional organizational skillsDynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.Uncompromising dedication to quality & safetyDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.Ability to role model high standards of professionalismExcellent follow-throughMust be driven and self-motivated.Pay Rate:$86,815.00 - $138,904.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓ Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
