Summary Posted: Nov 1, 2023 Weekly Hours: 40 Role Number: 200516133 The Battery Product Development team at Apple produces high energy and highly reliable embedded battery systems for all product teams. Tightly integrated with Product Development, Operations, Industrial Design and Reliability Testing groups, we own battery module development from initial system architecture through ramp. The Battery Cell Product Design Group works within the Battery Engineering organization. We responsible for the mechanical engineering design of our battery cells, which are integrated into battery modules and then into products. The In-Region Cell Product Design Engineer, is an individual contributor role located in China and will coordinate and implement the overall battery cell designs from beginning to end. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and problem-solving skills Design and 3D CAD experience required Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with management, team members and external vendors Ability to create and drive innovative mechanical or product designs, using tools such as FMEA, design of experiments, GD&T including datum establishment and tolerance analyses, and collaborate with FEA team Ability to define and complete design validation activities (testing, metrology, failure and statistical analysis), make data-driven decisions, be detailed focused, and collaborate in multi-functional team environments Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing processes and/or automation is preferred Description Description - Develops cell mechanical requirements and specifications to meet customer requirements with multi-functional team - Generates innovative designs with multi-functional teams, including detailed written specifications, drawings and tolerance analyses - Defines and completes design validation and characterization from prototype bring-up to product testing. - Drives failure analyses and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions - Participates in development of manufacturing processes with multi-functional team and external vendors, acting as product development technical liaison among vendors - Communicates technical status of projects cross functionally, including throughout the management structure - Conducts design reviews and drives file release process - Completes tasks necessary to deliver product timelines Education & Experience Education & Experience Mechanical Engineering, BS or higher Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Travel up to 50% to Cell vendors
