The PPO team features a collaborative environment with highly creative, smart people developing technologies and solutions to characterize display and sensing modules for various Apple products and new technologies. Our position involves owning the design, development and deployment of production systems and coordinated automation for touch, sensing and display modules for mass production. The role impacts the entire gamut of Apple products and new technologies. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications 5+ yrs mechanical system design experience (tool, fixture, mechatronics, electronics packaging, optics) 3D CAD experience required (NX, Solid works, Pro/E) Disciplined in drafting & GD&T practices Experience with analysis: FEA, Tolerance stackup, Error budget, RCA Knowledge of manufacturing methods (precision machining, heat treatments etc.) Excellent written & verbal communication skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ yrs. experience in equipment development, ideally in high volume production environments 5+ yrs. experience in opto-mechanical design (camera/optical mounts, kinematic mounts, compliant mechanism design) Experience in crafting stand-alone equipment for consumer electronics products/modules Experience crafting mechanical outlines for PCB, FPC, connectors etc. Experience in design of high precision mechanisms & motion control systems Experience in crafting for low particle environments/cleanrooms Knowledge of machine/computer vision systems Knowledge of optical system integration, alignment and stability testing Knowledge of robotics, automation and wafer/DUT handling systems Programming knowledge Description Description - Drive, end-to-end mechanical design of stand-alone functional systems - Work with multi-functional teams for equipment development & deployment - Design systems for automation integration & high-volume production environments - Develop system requirements, perform detailed analysis & testing - Apply engineering knowhow in the areas of optics, precision mechanism design & motion control - Apply scientific methods\testing to debug issues and implement robust solutions. - Document best practices, SOPs and maintain a library of validated designs Education & Experience Education & Experience M.S. in Mechanical Engineering Preferred B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Required Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,300 and $241,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
