Key Qualifications Key Qualifications 10+ years of industrial engineering experience in assembly/manufacturing 3+ years of experience in a direct people management role, preferably as a Senior Manager Able and willing to travel domestically and internationally ~20% Description Description In this highly impactful role, we lead efforts to make things better, may it be products, processes or systems. We bring our passion and thirst for excellence in the fields of digital manufacturing and factory efficiency to drive improvements and new technologies at our manufacturing facilities to ensure optimum use of resources.
DIGITAL MANUFACTURING:
- Modeling and evaluating discrete process simulations
- Designing the layout of the plant using computer-aided design/manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software to build 3D models
- Designing, developing and installing plant control systems
- Collaborating closely with designers, researchers and engineering consultants
- Investigating process ergonomics and coming up with solutions for any perceived issues
FACTORY EFFICIENCY AND METRICS:
- Calculating production costs and metrics that include time, labor, space, equipment and overhead
- Maintaining product process flow, layout and parameters
- Implementing lean principles to various factory related processes
- Deciding on the effective use of resources, e.g. raw materials, equipment and labor
- Factory benchmarking for best-in-class metrics
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:
- Leading development and implementation of projects at contract manufacturers (CMs)
- Visiting CMs and other production sites to lead IE discussions, evaluate onsite processes and provide improvement direction
DISTRIBUTION CENTER SUPPORT:
- Designing and validating distribution center layout to ensure KPIs for labor, throughput and lead times are met
- Develop, own, and communicate the Distribution Center (DC) Industrial Engineering KPIs and project roadmap at multiple 3PLs (third party logistics) to our senior leadership team
- Choosing, designing and validating warehouse automation using data driven approaches.
- Working with 3PL partners and vendors to drive data driven process and design optimizations
- Validate new and cutting-edge automation/operational equipment to drive efficiency and productivity improvements
- Setup benchmarking metrics for DCs across US, APAC and Europe
INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING:
- Predetermined time standards such as MODAPTS, MOST or MTM
- Design for Assembly/Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing
- Ergonomic validations (Siemens Jack or Process Simulate Human softwares)
- Run basic models in discrete event simulation softwares (FlexSIM and PlantSIM) Education & Experience Education & Experience Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s degree a plus) Additional Requirements Additional Requirements - Experience with 3D factory modeling and visualization softwares (Factory CAD, Line Designer, Factory Design Suite - Autodesk, VisMockup, Process Simulate) - Ability to run discrete event simulation in FlexSIM and PlantSIM - Exposure to ergonomic validations using Siemens Jack or Process Simulate Human - Experience with Design for Assembly/Manufacturing - Experience with Lean Manufacturing - Exposure to predetermined time standards such as MODAPTS, MOST or MTM - Good interpersonal, teamwork, presentation and communication skills - Strong project management skills and the ability to work to tight project deadlines Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $186,800 and $280,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
