Camera system engineering involves systems-level analysis and modeling of imaging and sensing systems, the design and construction of prototypes to guide development and assess user impact, the definition of tests and procedures to determine parametric specifications, and the documentation of requirements and design considerations. Applicants for the Electromechanical Systems Engineer role should be highly skilled in several of these areas: Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Experience with design and implementation of electronic and electromechanical systems Expertise in the use of Matlab and Simulink for modeling and simulation Expertise in systems characterization and identification Expertise with test equipment such as dynamic signal analyzers and oscilloscopes Proficiency in modeling of mechanical systems from first principles (dynamics, kinematics) Solid understanding of general feedback control systems (plant models, PID components, stability principles, etc.) Experience with programming (ideally in C/C++) Broad knowledge of engineering concepts (device behavior, troubleshooting, data-analysis, systems modeling) Great interpersonal skills - the ability to collaborate across groups, Great verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to take ownership of complicated problems and see them through to completion Description Description The Camera Systems Engineering Group develops systems, calibration, and correction procedures to maintain high image quality over a wide range of use cases and component variation. Past projects have addressed autofocus, image stabilization, position sensing and stereo imaging. The team is seeking an outstanding control systems engineer with broad skills to design and develop the next generation of camera technology. Education & Experience Education & Experience BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience Additional Requirements Additional Requirements - Proficiency with simple mechanical prototyping for lab purposes (3D modeling, having parts made through 3rd parties) - Experience with realization of real-time control-system with micro-controllers (DSP, C, C++) - Experience leading a small technical team - Experience with version control utilities - Experience with developing timing-sensitive applications in RTOS - Experience with working with complex code bases in a cooperative (multi-team) environment - Understanding of good firmware and software architecture design practices - Familiarity with XPC target (Real-time Simulink) - Familiarity with CAD / Solid modeling tools - Familiarity with inertial navigation sensors and sensor fusion - Familiarity with Python - Exposure to camera, optics and electro-optics technology Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
