Product Manager, ElectrolyzersStatus: Exempt (salaried) Department: Energy Solutions Position SummaryJoin Plug’s Electrolyzer Product Management team and help define and deliver the core equipment set driving green hydrogen and the next major step in the decarbonization of the industrial and transportation sectors.Plug is defining how green hydrogen production at scale will look. Today we are building the first generation of green hydrogen production plants and looking towards the next generation. Plug is unique in being both an equipment supplier and being committed to building our own hydrogen production network with that equipment, giving us deep insight into the interaction of the equipment with the total plant cost and operation. In this role you will survey market needs from external and internal customers, gather market intelligence from our Product Marketing team, understand the evolving regulatory environment with respect to safety, compliance and permitting. Then synthesize all of that into new product requirements that define the next generation of green hydrogen electrolyzer equipment. You will be the expert on your product as you guide it through the development process working with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Service, and Program Management teams to bring the product to market. You will provide the technical and business support for the Sales and Applications teams and assist as needed through the sales process through deployment and commissioning in the field.What You Will DoHelp define and implement a product vision and roadmap for the future of Plug’s electrolyzer business.Establish current and long-range objectives, ROI analysis, plans, and policies for the product across international markets.Write and maintain Product Requirements Documents that define the product and meet the market requirements.Collaborate with peers across the organization to ensure alignment with other product strategy and business plans. Develop a deep understanding of how Plug’s products are differentiated from the competition, how we bring additional value to customer projects, and how we fit into the competitive landscape.Engage with customers and prospects to share our vision and learn their business needs.Establish and manage a comprehensive product lifecycle plan for the product. Work with sales, marketing, and engineering teams to create the content and tools needed to successfully sell, install, commission, and service the product.Supply and manage the Product Specifications for use in Marketing, Sales, and Contracting.Work with Service to define standard service offerings based on product capabilities and market/customer needs.Identify market potential, establish pricing, and market strategies together with Finance, Sales, and Marketing Strategy, estimate potential sales for use in strategic planning, and introduce new markets.Drive effective communications throughout the organization ensuring a shared understanding of product requirements; work collaboratively with the Strategy, Engineering Product Development, Sourcing, Operations/Manufacturing, New Product Introduction, Marketing, Sales, Service, Development, Support, and Implementation teams.What You Will BringBS degree in an engineering discipline such as mechanical, electrical, chemical, or other applicable field of study.3 to 5 years of experience in product development or product management.Ability to travel in the domestic U.S. and internationally to Plug engineering and hydrogen production facilities, supplier, fabricator, and customer sites for electrolyzer product management activities; up to 20% of the time.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively manage diverse relationships with customers, internal and external stakeholders, and cross-functional team members.Experience of managing a successful product throughout its lifecycle including the new product development processes.Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization.Strong technical background with hands-on experience with hydrogen production or use technology is highly preferred.Experience in any of the following areas is preferred and highly valued:Electrolyzers or fuel cellsRenewable energyHigh pressure gas systemsGas processing or dispensing equipmentOil and gas, CNG, LNG, etc.Computer and software systems skills including Word, Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Outlook. Demonstrated analytical abilities, attention to detail, and persistence.Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively in a dynamic environment.Ability to represent the company in public with high standards of professionalism and confidence.Driven and self-motivated.Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.
