The team is responsible for Ticketmaster’s global, on-premise virtualization infrastructure. The mission of the team is to build and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure private cloud services which can be easily consumed or used by technology teams via API’s or self-service tools. Automation is in our DNA and we strive to make our services simple and easy to use. The current platforms are based on Apache CloudStack (KVM), Microsoft Hyper-V, and VMware. The team will be focusing on efforts towards modernization and operability, expanding capacity, and enhancing our private cloud platform in several ways using the VMware suite of products.Team Responsibilities and Focus:Implement standards and enforcement of access management.Maintaining standard and custom IaC tooling and related product release schedule.Implement scalable, automated and maintainable private cloud platform solutions.Collaborate with internal groups, to include Information Security, Network Engineering, Data Center Ops, Managed OS, and Cost Optimization, for implementation around operating systems, IaC, security, networking, and efficiency.Implement and review of controls to satisfy PCI requirements and participation in continuous monitoring and auditing activities.Provide consultation and operational support work to development teams.Educate and champion private cloud capabilities and services.Active participation in agile practices and cross departmental program management. THE JOBTicketmaster is seeking a talented Sr Systems Engineer, who, as part of a team, is responsible for managing our private cloud virtualization solutions. You will implement and maintain the tools that automate building and operating reliable systems and services. You will be maintaining a large, global implementation of Windows Hyper-V hypervisor clusters, Linux KVM hypervisors / CloudStack clusters, and will be a key player in the implementation of our next generation private cloud virtualization platform based on VMware. You will be responsible for the overall reliability of these virtualization infrastructure services that support business applications that are critical, high-volume, and available 24x7. You will write and use tools to automate routine and complex tasks and troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues. The position includes collaboration with development teams to help them implement scalable and supportable service-oriented systems. As part of this role it will be expected that you are a virtualization subject matter expert, and help drive efforts to improve automation and tooling. This role is not directly responsible for the supported VMs or applications, but rather for the virtualization platform supporting them.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOINGProvide subject matter expertise for our private cloud VMware platform.Proactively identify and address stability, capacity, and performance concerns.Support provisioning and deployment automation / IaC solutions.Identify, develop, and implement solutions for process automation.Complete assigned project related work from Jira tickets following Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology.Commiting code for infrastructure build, automation, and tests using Git and GitLab.Support PCI / security compliance requirements (upgrades, defect management, etc)Regularly work with support tools such as: Jira, GitLab, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and PagerDuty.Liaise with other teams (Networking, Data Center Ops, Security, etc) as required.Respond to, recover from, and prevent future occurrences of failures and outages.Participate in regular on-call rotations and potentially some after-hours support as required.Maintain existing platforms (Hyper-V and KVM / CloudStack) through the implementation of and migration to VMware.WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Experience installing and administering VMware infrastructure, including ESXi / vSphere and vCenter.Experience administering VMware Aria (vRealize) Automation, Operations, and Log Insight. Intermediate level understanding of networking concepts, including VMware NSX-T, SDN, VLANs, virtual switching, network segmentation, RDMA, and RoCE.Intermediate level understanding of storage concepts, especially related to virtualization (vSAN, Storage Spaces Direct, etc).Experience at scripting (PowerShell, Python, GoLang, etc) with demonstrable automation experience and working with APIs.Experience managing large-scale Windows and/or Linux infrastructure across public cloud and/or private data centers.Experience implementing automation / configuration management solutions with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet, etc.Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies.Various other products in our tool set you will need to use regularly: GitLab, Prometheus, Grafana, and Jira.YOU AREKnowledgeable on virtualization related subject matterAutonomous and proactivePassionate about technology and transformationSelf-motivated activator, energetic and tenaciousComfortable with working in cross functional and multidisciplinary teamsExcited about taking on challenging technical problems and devising creative solutionsComfortable working with structured Change and Incident ManagementAwareness of the security and compliance implications of your services and solutionsLIFE AT TICKETMASTERWe are proud to be a part of Live Nation Entertainment, the world’s largest live entertainment company.Our vision at Ticketmaster is to connect people around the world to the live events they love.
