Advanced degrees are a plus.A minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience as a technical writer, with a minimum experience of 5-7 years in API documentation.Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.Deep understanding of APIs, programming languages, web technologies, RESTful architecture, HTTP methods, and API documentation.Knowledge of the following tools: MadCap Flare, Swagger Editor, and Microsoft GitHub.Proficiency in markup languages such as Markdown, HTML, and XML.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including clearly explaining complex technical concepts.Proven leadership experience, with the ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of writers.Creative problem solver with the ability to innovate and improve documentation practices.Familiarity with Agile methodologies and a track record of thriving in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Ability to organize and create visual content to explain use cases and process flow.Ability to handle stressful, time-critical projects and deliver excellent user outcomes.Ability to think strategically, align documentation efforts with business goals, and contribute to the growth of the developer community.Primary ResponsibilitiesCreates clear and comprehensive API documentation for developers, including endpoints, parameters, error handling, and usage examples.Develops and executes a strategic vision for API documentation, aligning with company goals and industry best practices.Leads and mentors a team of API writers, providing guidance, coaching, and fostering a collaborative environment.Oversees the creation of in-depth API documentation, including guides, reference materials, tutorials, and sample code.Works closely with development teams, product managers, and subject matter experts to gather technical information and ensures accurate and up-to-date documentation.Distills complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and understandable documentation for diverse audiences.Reviews and ensures all API documentation's accuracy, consistency, and quality, making updates as APIs evolve.Creates and maintains a library of effective code samples and use cases demonstrating API implementation and interaction.Conducts usability testing of documentation, gathers developer feedback, and implements improvements to enhance user experience and writing standards.Stays up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in API documentation practices.Recommends and implements content, format, and technical standards changes to improve the usability or production of the user documentation.Drives accurate project scopes, estimates, and completion dates of assigned deliverables against a defined timeline and mentors others in planning deliverables.Collaborates with subject matter experts and internal stakeholders (PD/PMG) to determine necessary content updates.Delivers documentation that meets all defined requirements from PD/PMG and warrants product functionality. Performs documentation reviews, verifies reusability, and ensures the documentation adheres to standards.Collaborates with and leads other technical writers in peer and copy editing to ensure quality.Defines processes and standards regarding technology and automation; leads teams to successful implementation.Works collaboratively with UX designers in supporting UX writing needs (such as field names, field descriptions, messaging, and so on) and provides suggestions on screen flow to improve usability.Our ValuesIf you want to know the heart of a company, take a look at their values.
