The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) is seeking a talented Senior Director to lead on Research Analytics. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong data science skills, staying at the forefront of advancing technology developments while maintaining connections with the wider research community including research assessment bodies, universities and other key partners and users of our data.The successful candidate will lead the review and strategic development of Clarivate’s analytical capabilities, including innovative indicators and novel data visualizations, that support a holistic and informed approach to research management. This will require liaison with global colleagues to identify solvable problems for our customers.This is a unique opportunity to help shape the global research community’s responsible use of bibliometric data to drive research excellence.About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments+ 10 years of experience on a similar rolePost-graduate and ideally, post doctorate experience in a relevant subjectExperience in a customer-facing roleHigh level of analytical programming competency (e.g., Python, R)Excellent practical knowledge of key analytical techniques such as topic modelling, trend detection and network analysis (e.g., community detection and clustering)Experience using a range of modern visualization technologies.Understanding of large-scale data engineering platforms (e.g. Hadoop, Spark)It would be great if you also had . . .Methodical and detail-oriented approachExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Awareness of academic research and understanding of the research ecosystemExperience of analysis of data and content in Web of Science, Journal Citation Reports and InCitesExperience of remote management and working flexibly with colleagues in different time zonesWhat will you be doing in this role?Act as a spokesperson for the ISI to strengthen our position as the leading authority on the responsible use of bibliometrics for research evaluation and management.Manage an international team of data scientists and lead development of novel ways to measure and present data on attributes that quantify the societal and economic impact of research.Sustain and extend data assets (covering publications, patents, grants, grey literature and more) using a range of analytical techniques and visualisation technologies.Together with our product and technology teams, propose, prioritize and plan the implementation of new metrics, improved features, and accessible data visualizations across the product portfolio (including Journal Citation Reports, InCites, and the Web of Science).Explore analytical and knowledge gaps and, in liaison with consultancy colleagues, improve our understanding of customer needs and identify opportunities for product applications.Identify future research opportunities, assess the utility of our data to create novel ways to address customer pain points. Survey, test, and critique use of emerging technologies to enhance existing methodologies and develop new capabilities.  Contribute to internal and external communications (e.g. reports, research papers, white papers, speaking engagements) to explain novel findings and provide suitable interpretative support to the global research management communityAbout the teamYou’ll be reporting to the Senior Vice President bases in London, UKYou’ll be managing a team of Data scientist, collaborating closely with the Research & Analytics product teams, this exciting opportunity will suit a highly motivated and scientifically minded innovator who thrives on translating data and insights into product solutions.  Hours of WorkThis role is a 35 hours per week UK hours and we offer a permanent contract.
