Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. The Senior Fabricator at ARCHER will work closely with cross-functional Design and Innovation group to conceive and then fabricate physical properties that validate our product vision. The successful candidate will be passionate about creating intuitive solutions that will deliver high quality models under time and cost efficiency. They will collaborate with other fabricators and use knowledge of all hard modeling disciplines to make informed decisions.
Reporting to the Head of Fabrication working in the Design and Innovation(D&I) Team, the Senior Fabricator is responsible for converting Design and Engineering requirements into hard model making solutions. This role is based out of our Design Studio located in Mountain View, CA, with required to be onsite to collaborate with other team members.
What you’ll do:
High level of understanding the requirements for physical model development and modeling techniques (3 or 5 axes milling, Rapid prototyping, hard/soft modeling)
Ability to work in a dynamic work environment with continuous change and a willingness to learn new skills.
Oversee all aspects of the fabrication process, from design to delivery.
Prepare cost estimates for materials.
Create production schedules and coordinate with other departments to ensure timely completion of projects.
What you’ll need:
15 years of professional experience on hard fabrication and soft modeling (Clay)
Strong knowledge of model building materials, equipment, and techniques.
Knowledge of Powermill CNC software and milling 5 axis
Ability to develop basic CAD model to prove out solutions. (Autodesk, Alias, or Siemens, NX))
3D scanner operator experience.
Ability to work with a team under tight timing, ever changing design direction, keeping a positive attitude.
Strong understanding of quality control standards and practices
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Proficient at creative problem solving.
Ability to understand engineering requirements and incorporate them into a physical models.

We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $170,640 - $189,600 . Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
