NVIDIA is hiring outstanding interns to work in its functional safety team. Automotive architectures rely on highly complex systems-on-chip that provide high performance processors, GPUs, and many specialized hardware accelerators. The very high processing needs are tightly coupled with high-speed interfaces like >10Gbps Ethernet as well as PCIe. These high-speed interfaces raise new challenges in terms of reliability and integrity of the data transmission. The standards for Ethernet and PCIe address reliability using linear codes (e.g., Error Correction Codes) and cyclic-redundancy codes (CRC). To address integrity according to the ISO 26262 functional safety standard, especially in a noisy vehicle environment, a precise study of the reliability measures needs to be conducted, and further define additional measures for integrity if necessary. What you will be doing:Research and describe the key characteristics and limitations of the linear codes and cyclic-redundancy codes used in high-speed communication.Develop/enhance existing safety architecture for safety-related communication and provide conclusions into a technical paper.Collaborate globally with other team members as well as researchers and developers from different departments at NVIDIA.What we need to see:Pursuing a MS, or PhD in Computer Science or related field.Strong fundamentals in scientific computing and mathematics.Strong communication and organization skills, with a logical approach to problem solving, good time management, and task prioritization skills.NVIDIA is widely considered to be one of the technology industry's most desirable employers. We have some of the world's best experts in the world working with us and our engineering teams are growing fast in some of the hottest and innovative fields: Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Autonomous Vehicles, Supercomputing and more. Are you a creative and autonomous computer scientist with a real passion for parallel computing? If so, we want to hear from you.NVIDIA is committed to fostering a diverse work environment and proud to be an equal opportunity employer. As we highly value diversity in our current and future employees, we do not discriminate (including in our hiring and promotion practices) on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status or any other characteristic protected.
