Mainframe systems are at the heart of the digital economy, with 80% of the world’s structured corporate data residing or originating on mainframes, and 55% of all enterprise applications hitting the mainframe to complete transactions. Our industry-leading products are critical to many Fortune 1000 companies.We are adding to our team and looking for experienced candidates with a strength in IBM assembler language. This position is responsible for creating, testing, ensuring the quality of and maintaining a z/OS based mainframe product. The developer will perform new feature development, complex code modification, testing, and debugging tasks, as well as provide high level analysis related to software design and development. Responsibilities:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop high-quality software using IBM assembler language on the z/OS platform.Write, test, and maintain code for complex mainframe applications, ensuring code quality, reliability, and performance.Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to enhance code readability, maintainability, and adherence to best practices.Work closely with product owners and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.Contribute to the overall product architecture and design, leveraging your deep knowledge of assembler and mainframe technologies.Follow Agile development methodologies, actively participating in sprint planning, stand-up meetings, and retrospectives.Collaborate with quality assurance teams to create code that is easily testable and assist in identifying and resolving defects.Preferred EducationBachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or global equivalent.Required Technical and Professional Expertise8+ years of experience in designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems using assembler.Strong proficiency in assembler programming on the z/OS platform, with a solid understanding of mainframe architectures and concepts.Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and experience working in Agile teams.Knowledge of software testing principles and experience in creating testable code.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and troubleshoot complex software issues.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for learning and staying updated on the latest industry trends.Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results within defined timelines.Preferred Technical and Professional ExpertiseExperience with Mainframe Networking ConceptsExperience with other programming languages such as Metal C.Familiarity with z/OS utilities, such as ISPF, JCL, REXX, SYSVIEW, and IPCS.Knowledge of mainframe databases, such as DB2 or IMS.Understanding of DevOps principles and experience with CI/CD pipelines.Experience with version control systems, such as Git or EndevorAdditional Job Description:Compensation and BenefitsThe annual base salary range for this position is $91,200 - $152,000 This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
