About the role
Senior Buyers are responsible for handling Rocket Lab’s end to end sourcing operation. Senior Buyers are embedded with the engineering team during R&D projects and support them through early design phase through to production ramp, securing supply of the parts we use to build launch vehicles and space systems. Senior Buyers make daily decisions that are responsible for ensuring we meet our cost, quality, and delivery goals.
Essential skills
Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature
Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project
Proven ability to source, onboard, and negotiate pricing with suppliers
Proven knowledge of world class sourcing processes.
Ability to analyse data or insights to determine industry trends
Ability to develop grow, maintain and exit strategies for our supply base
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, technical manuals, customer RFx’s and regulations
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
Team oriented, strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and to multiple deadlines
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of time
Desired Skills
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain or other relevant fields
12+ years procurement experience
Proficient in MRP systems
Prior experience in aerospace, EV automotive, or other disruptive manufacturing industries
Prior experience in rapid growth environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience with AS9100, US export controls (ITAR and EAR)
Team oriented, strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and to multiple deadlines
