Technical WriterStatus: Exempt (salary)                                                                      *Base salary $55-70k based on many factors including years of relevant experience*This is an onsite role with a potential for hybrid in the future.Site is just south of Hobby Airport.Position SummaryThe Technical Writer individual is responsible for writing, editing, and maintaining product documentation.  This individual will work with the Customer Support Department and Engineering to produce comprehensive technical manuals for the Plug Power product lines. The individual will also assist in the development of training manuals and documentation. The successful candidate will be motivated, self-directed, and have the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a process for managing all product related technical literature, to maximize efficiency of product manual development.Develop and maintain structured processes, standards and templates for Plug Power product manuals and other product related material.Develop layout and styles guides for product, service and training manualsCompile technical content from product engineering and edit copy to create product manual text.Write, proofread, and edit copy for manuals and other related documents.Prepare graphics and copy layout according to established formatting practices.Adhere to and enforce Plug Power document approval and control processes.Communicate consistently and effectively to all cross-functional teams to ensure improvements and changes are understood, and questions are answered to move projects forwardRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner in all interactions; support the philosophy of the organization to provide high-performing technology to maximize customer satisfactionPerforms other related duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent work experienceHigh proficiency with documentation development and publishing software. Experience with Adobe FrameMaker (ver 7.1 or later), Adobe Acrobat, MS Office, and graphics editing software (Photoshop, Illustrator) or similar required.Previous experience working in a single source or structured (XML) documentation environment preferred.Proficiency with technical drawing and modeling software (PRO-E, ProductView, Autocad, etc…) preferred3+ years related work experience.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detailMust be driven and self-motivatedMust possess the highest ethical standards and a commitment to work quality
