We research and develop technologies that enable new and unique listening experiences from Sonos products.We are looking for a Principal Audio Research Scientist to join our audio rendering team in London and help us build the listening experiences of the future.What you’ll doAdvanced technologies play a central role in the future of the Sonos sound experience, covering a range of research areas including spatial audio, adaptive noise cancellation, adaptive hear through, telephony, and sensing. As a Principal Audio Research Scientist, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and evaluating audio signal processing and machine learning algorithms and methods. This will include identifying the emerging opportunities presented by new methods and developments in the field and taking ideas from early concepts to scalable, productisable solutions.  Skills You'll NeedResearch shows that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often don't apply for roles if they don't meet all the criteria. If you don’t have 100% of the skills listed, we strongly encourage you to apply if interested.Basic QualificationsAbility to formalize, analyze and solve complex problems.Demonstrable expertise and research experience in one or more of the following areas:Audio rendering: binaural, multichannel, and object based Spatial audioAdaptive ANC and hear throughVoice processing Sensing for audio Personalized, adaptive audio rendering Generative audio Ph.D. in audio, covering one of the above areas or a related topic.  Knowledge of fundamental DSP and ML techniques for audio (e.g. filter design, time-frequency analysis and processing).Comfortable using Python or Matlab and with version control tools.Ability to clearly communicate, present, and disseminate research findings to both specialist and general audiences. Preferred QualificationsMusical and/or critical listening background (playing, producing, engineering).Track record of published papers in relevant peer-reviewed journals or conferences (e.g. ICASSP, JASA, TASLP, EUSIPCO, WASPAA, CHI, NeurIPS, ISMIR, Interspeech, AES).Your profile will be reviewed and you'll hear from us once we have an update.
