You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain our Postgres database infrastructure. You will also automate database activities and provide self-service automation to developers. ResponsibilitiesDatabase Management: Administer, maintain, and optimize Postgres database systems to ensure reliability, availability, and performancePerformance Tuning: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, query optimization, and indexing to enhance database performanceDatabase Design: Collaborate with application developers to design and implement efficient database schemas and data modelsHigh Availability and Disaster Recovery: Set up and maintain high availability configurations, including replication, clustering, and failover solutionsSecurity: Implement and enforce database security best practices, including access controls and encryptionBackup and Recovery: Develop and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical dataMonitoring and Alerts: Implement monitoring tools and configure alerts to identify and address issues proactivelyAutomation: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline database administration tasksDocumentation: Create and maintain clear and detailed documentation for database configurations, procedures, and best practicesResearch and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in PostgreSQL and database management to recommend improvements and optimizationsCollaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, DevOps engineers, and system administrators, to resolve database-related issues and support application developmentQualifications10+ years of experienceBachelor's in Computer Science or Computer EngineeringExperience/SkillsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field10+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Engineer, with a strong focus on PostgreSQLIn-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL database architecture, administration, and performance tuningProficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and scripting languages like Python or BashExperience with high availability and disaster recovery solutionsStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsFamiliarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS)Experience in building and running Postgres DB in Kubernetes and/or bare metal serversWorking experience in Ceph and Rook is a big plusExcellent communication and teamwork skillsRelevant certifications (e.g., PostgreSQL Certified Engineer) are a bonusEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability. If you are a qualified candidate and need assistance or an accommodation, please let us know by completing this form.Equinix is an Equal Employment Opportunity and, in the U.S., an Affirmative Action employer.
