Summary Posted: Jun 7, 2023 Role Number: 200474380 Apple’s Instructional Products group is looking for an experienced people manager with outstanding animation and project management skills to lead a team of motion designers in a fast-paced environment within Software Engineering. The Motion Design Manager is responsible for ensuring the high design quality of all our animated content, including UI animations and instructional videos in the Tips app on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, as well as help and user guides on device and the web. This is an opportunity to lead and grow a small, talented team of motion designers focused on creating engaging animated content that connects with and guides our users to get the most out of Apple’s hardware, software, and services. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Outstanding people skills, experience managing teams, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong project management experience: attention to detail, planning, project communication, issue resolution, change management, and risk management Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting aggressive timelines with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results Exceptional creativity in concept development, storyboarding, and problem solving Description Description Guide and support the animation team by providing clear direction to enhance the team’s performance and build a culture of collaboration Hire, mentor, and onboard motion design team members Define the motion, transitions, and interactions of welcome experiences, short how-to videos, and user interface animations Collaborate with designers, animators, instructional designers, and developers to create and build out interaction designs Prototype user interactions that will help guide our users in the future Be part of the broader Instructional Products Management team, including Content, Design, Engineering, Editorial, and Project Management to help lead business planning and department-wide initiatives You: Have great leadership skills and a collaborative mindset Can comprehend, communicate, and manage complex design tradeoffs Have the flexibility and resourcefulness to manage changing business requirements, projects, and resources, adapting accordingly and positively Understand and deal well with rapid development cycles Are self-motivated and proactive, with demonstrated creative and critical-thinking capabilities Education & Experience Education & Experience BA degree in Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, or other related discipline Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Must provide link to portfolio that demonstrates strong concepts and execution across mobile and desktop apps, web, or film/broadcast that highlights experience leading teams Mastery of After Effects and other software for creating user interface animations and rapid user experience comps and prototypes 8-10 years experience in motion graphics, broadcast, or animation Deep understanding of Human Interface Guidelines for Apple platforms Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $174,000 and $301,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
