The Performance and Power team in the Machine Learning Platforms and Technologies group at Apple is looking for an outstanding performance engineer to lead a team analyzing ML performance on unreleased SOCs (System On a Chip), sign off on new products’ ML performance, and investigate performance and power characteristics of new ML workloads. In this highly collaborative and cross functional role, you will be at the center of multiple efforts to accelerate and optimize on-device machine learning. We are looking for someone that is familiar with machine learning and is passionate about identifying and optimizing performance bottlenecks. Experience with system level performance in embedded platforms as well as SOC architecture is a strong plus. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Strong and proven software development and performance skills Proficiency in C/C++ and Python Understanding of machine learning fundamentals Experience with performance on low level software and computer architecture. Creative, collaborative, and product-focused Excellent communication skills Description Description If the following responsibilities appeal to you, then come join us! - Analysis and signoff of ML performance and power on unreleased SOCs, product level analysis and signoff, and profiling of new ML workloads. - Collect the learnings from SOC investigations and then collaborate with the Platform Architecture team to provide insight for future silicon. - Work with high level software features including 3rd party developers, as well as teams up and down the ML inference stack all the way down to firmware. - Develop pioneering methodology for measuring and introspecting into ML workloads and extend our tools and infra to provide deeper insight into system behaviors. - Engage with model developers to optimize their models and optimize their usage of our SOCs to deliver best in class latency and memory usage. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700 and $300,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
