The Maps Services team develops and maintains many customer facing services that provide Maps capabilities to our users. These systems handle millions of requests per second, from all parts of the world, at all times of the day. We're looking for an engineer to continue building new capabilities and improving our foundation, so we can continue delivering exciting new features to our quickly growing user base. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Comfortable with the JVM ecosystem and its instrumentation tools. Good understanding of CS fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms and concurrency. Has developed applications for the Linux Operating System. Strong interest in system performance and efficiency based on both theoretical and applied characteristics. Real world experience using a relational database with SQL and a key value database. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus. Independent learner who follows trends in our industry. Description Description If hired, you will join a small team of senior engineers who build and maintain many critical services within Maps. With their help, you would become directly responsible for some of those services and their long term development roadmap. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to develop core libraries that provide shared functionality across services, work on build and deployment tools to smooth the development cycle, implement new features or identify ways to refine existing processes. Pragmatism and reasoned technical judgment are very important, so you'll be encouraged to build a deep understanding of the tools we use and any new technologies you may introduce. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $208,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
