We are seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join our team as an Engineering Technician. We primarily support the Mac, iPad, and Input Product Design teams, providing them with data and creative solutions that help drive design decisions. We work directly with our Product Design teams to develop and implement characterization plans for parts and prototypes. You will use the equipment in the lab to measure, inspect, and characterize materials and prototypes, and provide data to the engineering team based on those measurements. You will support the documentation of our test procedures, ensuring that our work is consistent, detailed, and repeatable. You will also be responsible for the maintenance and organization of our lab space. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Experience using measurement equipment and software including, but not limited to, Calipers, Torque Wrenches, Coordinate Measuring Machines, 3D Scanning, Microscopes, Thermocouples, Accelerometers, Oscilloscopes, and Data Acquisition Software. Experience with equipment or software similar to, but not listed here also potentially acceptable. Ability to understand and create simple sketches/illustrations, CAD models, and technical drawings. Experience with equipment found in, but not limited to, spaces like design labs, garages, machine shops, wood shops, or maker spaces. Examples may include 3D printers, laser cutter, mill, lathe, hand tools, etc. Familiarity with lab safety and organization practices ALSO VALUABLE, BUT NOT REQUIRED: Experience with materials testing and qualification Experience in GD&T practices with close attention to datum establishment and tolerance analysis Electrical system experience including, debugging, interpretation of schematics, soldering, wiring harness fabrication, or PCB rework Experience using cameras with interchangeable lenses Active curiosity in STEM topics PERSONAL SKILLS: Curious about how things work and willing to ask questions. Persistent when solving problems Self-motivated and driven to complete projects Values quality of work and attention to detail Thrives while working independently and as part of a small team Description Description WITHIN 6 MONTHS YOU WILL: - Maintain lab space, keeping it tidy and organized - Document work procedures for metrology and other equipment - Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment - Develop procedures for safe and effective use of lab metrology equipment - Complete validation and characterization testing from prototypes to production parts - Collaborate with the machine shop to carry out the detailed fabrication and assembly processes, and accurately document and report any problems or areas for improvement WITHIN 1 YEAR YOU WILL: - Develop metrology requirements, define and carry out validation activities (mechanical testing, metrology, photographic documentation), and document processes in the lab - Work with Product Design teams to understand system and sub-system measurement requirements, develop measurement plans, conduct the measurements, and report the data back to the team - Own the metrology and documentation requests for the lab, providing results in a timely manner - Train new users to use lab metrology equipment WITHIN 2 YEARS YOU WILL: - Develop custom metrology designs and processes - Work with Product Design teams and external vendors to identify and implement metrology solutions in the lab Education & Experience Education & Experience 2+ years experience in a technician role -or- Associate’s degree or higher in a technical field or equivalent Additional Requirements Additional Requirements
