Apple is looking for a world-class leader to develop PVD equipment and processes to deposit thin films for advanced technology development. This engineering manager role will be responsible for design and development of thin film deposition equipment and process that meets key program goals. This includes sputter deposition of various thin films (metals, oxides) using a range of power configurations (DC, AC, RF) on different equipment platforms (in-line, drum). The role requires development and simulation of a production-intent manufacturing process on pilot scale equipment while realizing key cell performance and economic targets. This individual will work with scale partner in developing production-scale equipment design and readiness for procurement to realize first low volume production line. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications BS and 20 plus years of relevant industry experience 10+ years experience in equipment design / process development of thin film deposition systems (PVD, CVD, ALD) Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for thin film deposition equipment / process Proficient with statistical analysis and formal problem solving tools (SPC, GR&R, DOE, ANOVA, Fishbones, FMEA, RCA, FTA, etc.) Excellent written and oral communications skills Description Description •Establishing vision, developing strategies and tactical plans leveraging partnerships, and empowering the team to realize program goals.
•Drive establishment of critical-to-quality metrics, process sensitivity analysis through Design of Experiments (DOEs), and creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs). Establish comprehensive process control metrics on all equipment.
•Hands on experience in design and development of power delivery, sputtering sources, substrate carriers, and receivers.
•Promote mastery of equipment and process designs through first principles engineering and correlation / causation relationships.
•Develop equipment specifications for final tool selection, participate in vendor selection and provide technical guidance during tool development and factory acceptance prior to shipment. Oversee equipment performance including: installation, commissioning and set-up.
•Collaborate and communicate with peer engineering leads in other functional areas to ensure alignment on projects and priorities. Proactively identify gaps and work efficiently to close them.
•Contribute to the design and operating specification of pilot line equipment to enable capability of supporting advanced designs, materials and process development initiatives. This includes optimization, trouble shooting and corrective action implementation.
•Establish relationships with and transfer knowledge to development and scale partner for thin film deposition. Ensure partner is able to operate autonomously.
•Develop team to grow and expand knowledge, skills and abilities. Includes establishing career growth pathways, identifying key areas of development needed, and using the range of tools available to realize each individual team member’s goals.

Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $192,700 and $289,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
