Summary Posted: Oct 12, 2023 Role Number: 200505249 Apple’s Motion Sensing Hardware team plays a key part in the development and integration of motion sensors for Apple’s consumer electronics products including iPad, iPhone, Watch and Apple Vision Pro, providing Apple customers with the best user-experience in the industry. This team leads the definition and integration of innovative sensing technologies such as accelerometers, gyroscopes, pressure sensors, and magnetometers while working with world leading suppliers and multi-functional system teams at Apple. For this role we’re looking for a high-energy, self motivated engineering program manager (EPM) to work with the engineers on motion sensors for next generation Vision (AR/VR) products. As the EPM you will be responsible for and coordinate the team’s activities towards specifying, developing, characterizing, integrating, and validating motion sensing systems at module and system level for Apple Vision products as well as facilitating the top level feature integration and multi-functional communications with the Vision Products Team (VPG). The Motion Sensing Hardware Team is a part of Apple Hardware Technologies team, featuring a collaborative environment with creative, hard-working people which works closely with other multi-functional teams across Apple. This team defines and integrates (mainly MEMS based) magnetic, piezo and capacitive sensors across a variety of Apple products. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Product development or management experience and proven track record of shipping semiconductor, electronic sensing or system hardware, or highly complex motion/vision related features Technical background (electrical or mechanical engineering preferred) of sensing technologies, system sensor integration, or motion sensing algorithms a plus Solid critical thinking, problem solving and failure analysis skills Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to filter, distill, and present relevant information for the right audience (working level to VP) Ability to navigate in ambiguity and uncertainty and see around the corner Curious, self motivated, and proactive Ability to operate in a collaborative environment and align to team culture and priorities Great organizational skills and ability to help craft and maintain project plans Leadership skills and the ability to inspire and rally the team to move in the right direction Description Description Lead planning and alignment among cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, process, reliability, software and firmware engineering to deliver state-of-the-art sensing solutions and integrate them into next generation Apple Vision Products Act as a liaison to Motion sensing HW between cross-functional teams ensuring tight coordination and communication between Motion Sensing Hardware engineers, internal partners, and Apple Vision Products team Track and report on the progress of HW and SW feature development on new System HW Define the program plan/schedule and manage program execution Help deliver executive communication/presentations and drive the decision-making process Manage and support engineering development builds leading to mass production keeping track of engineering activities such as performance validation, yield optimization, and failure analysis coordination Work with suppliers and system teams to proactively identify and resolve issues Manage multiple overseas suppliers and vendors in preparation for, and execution of, engineering development builds and new sensor development as needed Support internal proof-of-concept hardware and software developments for new application investigations Identify and resolve conflicts, inter-dependencies, and program issues quickly and efficiently both internally and with cross-functional teams Efficiently and effectively react to unexpected changes in the program due to outside influences and/or issues that arise Work with engineering management to define motion sensing roadmap Education & Experience Education & Experience BS + 3 years of relevant experience, MS/PHD preferred Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,300 and $241,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
