Our responsibilities encompass the frameworks, developer tools, and hardware drivers for the GPU and Display devices on all of Apple’s hardware. The team is now seeking an outstanding, driven, and dedicated leader to manage our GPU Developer Technologies High Level Tools team.
This team is responsible for designing and building Metal Debugger, a state of the art GPU debugger and profiler for Metal. Shader debugger, ray tracing debugger, shader profiler, and counter profiler are some of the tools and workflows available in Metal Debugger.
We are looking for a manager with a strong engineering background who is excited to work with engineers and other leaders at Apple to build exciting new GPU focused developer tools. This manager has the interpersonal skills, the diligence to drive, and the perseverance to ship products. This team is responsible for designing and building Metal Debugger, a state of the art GPU debugger and profiler for Metal. Shader debugger, ray tracing debugger, shader profiler, and counter profiler are some of the tools and workflows available in Metal Debugger. Building these tools requires collaborating with multiple groups across software and hardware, including Xcode, Human Interface, iOS, macOS and all aspects of GPU software, and working with innovative technologies such as AR and GPU-accelerated machine learning.
The GPU Developer Tools are key to helping developers bring the best in-class Games and Pro Apps to Apple’s platforms.
You will lead and mentor a team of dedicated GPU Developer Tools engineers. Lead the team that designs and implements GPU Developer Tools using the core GPU tools technologies provided by the GPU Tool Core Technologies team and the performance analysis and profiling data provided by the GPU Tools Performance team. Lead the design of advanced GPU debugging and profiling workflows for current and future GPU technologies and use cases.
Contribute and help leading the vision and multi-year roadmap for GPU Developer Tools at Apple. Work with the Developer Tools HI team to design and implement excellent user interfaces for GPU Developer Tools. Work with our Metal Ecosystem team to understand the tools needs of Apple’s Game and Pro App developers. Work with Metal Frameworks and Driver teams to understand the tools needs for upcoming GPU technologies. Contribute to specification and design of future debugging & profiling functionality within Apple GPUs. Education & Experience Education & Experience Technical BS/MS degree / Equivalent Experience Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Not required but it is a plus if you have: - Knowledge of GPU hardware and software architecture a major plus - Experience developing graphics performance and profiling tools - Experience with performance optimizations - Systems engineering experience or low-level hardware experience - Development experience on iOS, tvOS or macOS - Development experience with Cocoa and Objective C or Swift Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $183,400 and $316,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
