Summary Posted: Oct 24, 2023 Role Number: 200515141 The Mac SOC Package Integration team integrates world-class SOCs (system on a chip) into the next generation of computers that will perform like no other! We apply a genuine sense of curiosity and dedication to deliver products that enable our customers to free their creativity. We want you to join our cohesive and diverse family of engineers to do the most impactful work of your life. In this role, we generate concepts, design down to the details, prototype & test, and travel to assembly sites to optimize designs. We’re excited for you to come join us and help build amazing Macs! Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Genuine curiosity and a sense of design ownership: We are the mechanical engineering team that holds primary responsibility for mechanical design! Engineering fundamentals: solid mechanics, material science, heat transfer, simple static finite element analysis, tolerance analysis, design for assembly/manufacturability, metrology, statistical process control Excellent communication skills: both written and verbal, ability to clearly communicate design ideas and contribute to brainstorms SOC integration experience not required, but strongly preferred: consumer electronics ICs, packaging design, and production processes Description Description - System level mechanical design and integration of Mac SOCs. Develop initial SOC package integration solutions. Generate concepts, create CAD models, prototype, and test to drive design down-selection. Design may encompass mechanical parts, thermal solutions, or other pieces that ensure product-level performance. - Complete pathfinding for current and future SOC fit into product, thermal performance, and reliability performance. This includes generating test vehicles to explore design concepts. - Analyze designs and collaborate with FEA engineers to mitigate SOC stresses under thermal and mechanical loads. - Collaborate with electrical engineers, board layout, PCB DFM, packaging engineering, product reliability & integrity, and thermal design to refine & iterate on the design of the product - Partner with external vendors & internal operations teams to optimize designs for function and manufacturability - Ensure design meets reliability requirements throughout its lifecycle and perform failure analyses - Design, fabricate, and provide functional requirements for assembly and test fixtures Education & Experience Education & Experience B.S. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Travel up to 10% in Asia to support proof of concept builds
