As a member of the Satellite Connectivity Group, you will work on the satellite network that enables connectivity to iPhone when off the grid without cellular or Wi-Fi coverage. Every day, Apple customers use Emergency SOS via satellite to access emergency assistance when they are in need of help and have no other means to communicate. We are looking for a mechanical engineer with great attention to detail. You will participate in the design and manufacturing of complex, cross functional systems. This will include mechanical and thermal product design/analysis, 3D modeling, drafting and driving formal design releases in our PLM system. In addition to mechanical design, you will work with contract manufacturers to realize our products. This will include maintaining bills of materials, build documentation, assembly and test fixtures, test procedures, and driving anomalies and non-conformances to closure. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Ability to create and own design documentation including mechanical CAD models, mechanical drawings, BOMs, product specifications, test procedures, and technical presentations Proficiency with GD&T and inspection techniques Proficiency with a modern CAD package (NX preferred) Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (Teamcenter and Agile preferred) Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills Experience with products involving complex printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies preferred Experience with mechanical testing techniques such as material coupon testing, shock, vibration, and HALT testing preferred Experience working with a contract manufacturer to bring a product from prototype to production preferred Description Description - Think like a systems engineer and seek to understand the broader context of a project - Design highly manufacturable products using processes such as machining, stamping, forming, and additive manufacturing - Lead mechanical data exchange for printed circuit board assembly integration including support for thermal and reliability analysis - Qualify prototypes and transfer knowledge to a contract manufacturer for production - Travel to suppliers, test facilities, and CMs as needed (up to 25% during builds) Education & Experience Education & Experience Minimum BS Mechanical Engineering or related degree Additional Requirements Additional Requirements Pay & Benefits Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
