Building and integrating complex components, working with cross-functional engineering teams, and making devices that live up to high expectations. This role requires an engineer who is not afraid to take on challenges, and knows how to balance innovation with practicality. You will work with members of the cross-functional engineering team to define and implement custom hardware that supports and drives our prototype platforms and instruments. You will be expected to reduce high level feature requests to practical and implementable hardware designs, while understanding and balancing implementation tradeoffs. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications BS and 3+ years of relevant experience. EE or CE preferred. Strong Electrical Engineering background with good understanding of fundamentals of analog and mixed signal design, digital design, communication interfaces Experience with schematic capture tools, such as Eagle, Altium, or Cadence and PCB layout on complex multi-layer boards Experience using standard lab equipment for testing, characterization, and debug (e.g. oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, etc.) Strong analytical skills Experience with MATLAB, Python, LTspice, Spectre or similar scripting and circuit simulation tools Experience working with systems that may include analog sensors, ADCs, FPGAs, embedded microcontrollers is a plus Experience with various system modeling and simulation tools, such as ANSYS, Simulink, COMSOL is a plus Candidate must work well in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment Description Description As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will have the following responsibilities: - Perform schematic capture and layout of 4-12 layer PCBs - Design mixed-signal circuits and develop simulation models at circuit and system level - Perform bring-up, characterization, and debug for mixed-signal PCBs - Collaborate within EE and with cross-functional team to perform failure analysis and investigate root-cause for EE issues in optoelectronic systems Education & Experience Education & Experience BS and 3+ years of relevant experience. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,300 and $241,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
