Develop and implement PVD fixtures that achieve challenging coating uniformity and coverage requirements for 3D parts in our highly visible enclosure designs. Key Qualifications Key Qualifications Around 5 years or more experience in hands-on development fixtures & machines in R&D and/or production environment Fixture development in vacuum, understanding vacuum technology Expertise material selection, fabrication methods (including CNC machining, stamping, MIM, and injection molding), and metrology Ability to lead a development program to a schedule from a research phase into manufacturing execution in a matrixed organization Experience in mechanical failure analysis of bearing surfaces, rotating shafts, and linkages Experience validating equipment for use in mass production Excellent problem solving skills with an emphasis toward implementing solutions Self-motivated with a commitment to delivering high quality results in a fast paced environment Description Description - Work with Apple’s Manufacturing Design, Product Design, and SME teammates to create design and develop fixtures that enable new part geometries and coating designs.
- Collaborate with best-in-class equipment and process manufacturing partners to create next-generation fixtures and mechanical systems to test limits of process capabilities
- Determine feasibility to achieve ambitious goals evaluating manufacturing processes at early stages of product development
- Plan and implement studies to confirm process capability to achieve technical goals for multiple programs
- Present analysis to key decision makers that will be used to make commercial and design commitments
- Work directly with manufacturers implementing solutions meeting commercial goals
- Periodic travel expected Education & Experience Education & Experience BS in Materials Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent; MS preferred Additional Requirements Additional Requirements DESIRED ATTRIBUTES: Experience designing equipment for service in high vacuum. Expertise in FEA for structures and machines.
