Smartsheet is looking for a Technical Project Manager who will support the Marketing Team in ensuring web development projects have the right requirements, scope, resources, and that development decisions align with business needs. You will be the interface between stakeholders, developers, and cross-functional team members, and will have a clear understanding of the broader picture, and guide developer sprints to balance our overall roadmap and strategic goals.
This is a full-time position on our Marketing PMO team and can be based remotely within CR or in Smartsheet’s corporate offices in San José.
You Will:
Partner with multiple teams across our company to define scope, requirements, and level of effort for marketing projects and programs.
Lead the execution of technical marketing projects, and programs by working directly with teams across multiple functions of the business.
Manage active work and backlog, address priorities and risks, and communicate them to the team resources and business partners.
Work directly with front end and back end developers, and quality assurance engineers to facilitate daily stand ups and prioritization of work for weekly releases as well as both short term and long term projects.
We ensure requests meet the definition of ready for our development team, and manage the scheduling and communication of deployments
Be the daily contact for project teams and business partners, keeping consistent documention and managing communication across all stakeholders.
Lead decision-making with business partners on options to accomplish requested projects.
Anticipate and respond to risks and changes in project scope, identify and remove roadblocks.
Lead post-project retrospective discussions, and share and implement improvements for future programs.
You will contribute to managing the team’s capacity by understanding the current state of the project pipeline and clarifying trade offs when changes are made to the project roadmap.
Work with internal resources (e.g. creative teams, web development and QA, legal, etc.) to prioritize work to meet the proposed schedule as well as longer-term marketing initiatives that could span years.
Support colleagues on the Marketing PMO team in delivering world class PMO support and expertise at Smartsheet, and participate in optimizing existing team processes.
You Have:
Bachelor's degree in CS or related field, or equivalent PM certification (PMP)
5+ years experience as a PM focused on working with development teams.
Strong proficiency in both written and oral English communication is required for this role
Experience managing projects within Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies
Experience with Jira or similar bug tracking/enhancement tracking software, intake request management and production management
Experience interpreting and communicating milestones and project risks
Experience breaking down complex asks into detailed stories/sub-task and documenting those as requirements
Good ability to load-balance resources across competing projects and run daily development standups
Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
Enthusiasm to dig into technical features, issues, and specifications
Creativity and initiative for improving project effectiveness
Skills in analyzing and solving complex problems
Working technical knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and CSS is a big plus
Working knowledge of typical content management system architecture and workflows
