About the Role:
The International Accounting team at Planet is seeking a new Senior GL Accountant EMEA & APAC to maintain our books and become a part of the global Finance team. The role can be based remotely in any one of the following countries: The Netherlands, Germany, Slovenia, Austria or the United Kingdom.
Reporting to the International Controller, the Senior GL Accountant will work closely with global teams in General Accounting functions, Tax, Legal, FP&A & People team to ensure the financial statements for assigned entities are reported accurately in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (“U.S. GAAP”) and other appropriate accounting rules, as applicable.
Your mission will be to foster working relationships, implement best practices and drive continuous process improvements as you will be responsible for a wide variety of Accounting tasks. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, curious, collaborative and analytical, and a reliable colleague with high work ethic, who sees challenges as opportunities and loves to be part of a great team. You will have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, multinational accounting environment and be able to meet the deadlines with minimal supervision.
Impact You’ll Own:
Manage day-to-day closing and reporting activities for Legal entities in EMEA & APAC to ensure that the entities’ books are maintained in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance.
Responsible for preparation of Statutory Financial Statements, VAT and Corporate income tax compliance in multiple geographies.
Timely delivery of quality PBC requests for SOX controls, internal audit testing, Integrated US GAAP audit and regional statutory audits.
Support the management effort in process improvements for all areas of responsibilities, such as new system implementations, Mergers & Acquisitions & other projects.
Timely and accurate accounting, processing & reporting of payroll (as needed).
Provide corporate oversight of the Regional Legal Entities. Review, monitor, and follow up on variances until successful resolution during the month-end close.
Ensure compliance with Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (“ICFR”) under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (“SOX”) for areas of responsibility, including the documentation and review of accounting policies and procedures.
Support other members of Finance in other projects as needed.
Prepare financial statements, corporate income tax provisions and reconciliation thereof. Proficient in different tax structures; able to create journals to support various inter-company agreements.
What You Bring:
BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent, ACCA/CPA/MBA preferred
Minimum 8+ years’ experience with a major in finance and accounting
Hands-on work ethic and can-do attitude
Experience with working in an accounting group of a public international company
Proven ability to prioritize activities and manage workload in a complex fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
Merger & Acquisition experience a plus
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and service-oriented mindset
