Learn more at  diligent.com .   Position Overview As a Front-end Development Manager, you will play a vital role in the realization of a new UI foundation for our entire product platform. Our team has ambitious goals and we need your help to guide the front-end engineering team to design, build, and maintain the front-end libraries for our next generation design systems and the tooling around them. Together with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, technical writers, and product managers, you will bring Diligent’s vision of modern governance, risk, and compliance to our customers and enable them to make more responsible, equitable, data-driven decisions. Key Responsibilities  Lead and define the design system’s development strategy, aligning it with the system’s long-term vision, user needs, and company goals Oversee all design system development work by organizing team efforts to align with user needs and business goals, owning delivery of product commitments, and ensuring production code always meets or exceeds organizational quality standards.  Manage, mentor, and support a team of UX developers, fostering a collaborative environment and helping them improve their skillset and achieve career goals.  Achieve consensus through cross-functional collaboration in order to craft and maintain a strategic roadmap for the design system. Lead development team support efforts for users of design system components and tools as well as provide guidance to engineering teams on topics like front-end coding practices, design patterns, and accessibility compliance standards. Establish and nurture cross-functional product team relationships to further contributions to and adoption of the design system across Diligent’s platform. Enable the team to oversee and improve front-end tooling, automation, and deployment pipelines for the design system. Direct and empower the team to explore, implement, and share knowledge across product teams about new tools and technologies that can advance our design system. Provide oversight and implement measures for ongoing quality assurance and performance optimization of the design system. Oversee and empower the team’s development research activities, ensuring team members have the space and guidance needed to own all aspects of the process. Ensure all development team work is regularly tracked and a refined backlog is maintained. Oversee and make improvements to development team processes, metrics, and rituals. Contribute development work in a hands-on manner when supplemental team capacity is needed. Required Experience/Skills You have 7+ years of professional experience building web applications in an agile environment and expert understanding of ES6/TypeScript, React and/or Angular, and CSS. You have 1+ years of professional experience managing and mentoring front-end development teams. You know how to foster a creative, collaborative, and inclusive environment that encourages a team-first mentality and everyone to have a voice. You empower others to own their work – providing space to enable team members to grow while always being available to guide when help is needed. You have experience with complete front-end toolchains including package management, bundling, monorepo management, and automated testing. You are familiar with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild, Jenkins, etc. You have experience with UI component libraries like Material UI, Angular Material, Ant Design, Chakra, or proprietary solutions. You are excited about improving the experience of developers and want to understand the conditions that allow them to thrive. You are passionate about responsive, cross-browser compatible, standards compliant, accessible user interfaces. Direct design system experience is a plus.
