Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. What You’ll Do: As the Cost Engineer, you will develop cost estimation methodologies and lead cross-functional actions to identify, deploy, and report cost savings opportunities and risk mitigations plans. You will engage with cross-functional leaders to assess cost sensitivities and deliver detailed estimates to enable data-driven negotiations. Position: Cost Engineer Full time, based at Archer Headquarters in San Jose Work in a fast-paced environment to model the cost of materials, components, and assemblies throughout development and production Develop detailed & dynamic should-cost models to: Highlight key cost sensitivities Influence design & sourcing decisions Support Strategic Sourcing negotiations Identify risks and opportunities and drive action & accountability Manage the cost summary and tracking process for the complete product lifecycle Establish cost modeling priorities to maximize impact and value for Archer Distill complex datasets into actionable information for cross-functional leaders Clearly articulate status, progress, opportunities, and risks to the executive team Work closely with cross-functional leaders to continuously improve policies and procedures, enhancing organizational value and efficiency Analyze global cost trends and create tools to outline the relevant impacts Travel: Minimal What You Need: BS/BA and 6+ years of relevant experience, or MBA/MS and 4+ years of relevant experience Work experience in aerospace, automotive, or EVTOL industries Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain Experience in should-cost modeling, manufacturing process mapping, raw materials markets and other indexes, summary reporting, executive presentation, and cross-functional management Self-starter with a powerful drive to learn and innovate Ability to thrive in a fast-paced evolving environment and pivot when needed An insatiable curiosity and a keen attention to detail Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities Proven ability to cut ambiguity and delivery clarity to stakeholders Interest in manufacturing and assembly processes, market volatility, and design-to-value strategies Solid analytical and computer skills (excel/sheets, word/docs, powerpoint/slides) Ability to communicate effectively and present with confidence Bonus Qualifications: Data visualization software expertise    Please note that this job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position and does not include an exhaustive list of responsibilities and qualifications At Archer we aim to attract, retain, and motivate talent that possess the skills and leadership necessary to grow our business. We drive a pay-for-performance culture and reward performance that supports the Company’s business strategy. For this position we are targeting a base pay between $124,800 to $156,000. Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
