Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) Test EngineerStatus: Exempt (salaried)                                                                 Department: MEA and Stack EngineeringPosition SummaryThe Test Engineer position will use their expertise to support Plug Power’s fuel cell products by defining, documenting, acquiring data, analyzing and performing tests on Plug Power fuel cell systems and stack components. The ideal candidate will provide input to stack and system engineering for making changes to improve system reliability. The main responsibility will be for test setups, sample preparation, single cell fuel cell testing, corrosion experiments, and interfacial contact resistance measurements.  This role requires mechanical aptitude and teamwork skills.  The role also requires close interaction with the engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure any issues get communicated and resolved in a timely manner.  The ideal candidate will have excellent hands-on problem-solving skills and attention to detail and must be able to effectively communicate with cross-functional engineering teams, should be creative, self-motivated, and be able to handle multiple project assignments within a fast-paced engineering organization.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesTest engineer will support the design, build, troubleshooting and commissioning of test equipment, hardware and software used for testing and development of MEA and other stack componentsThis individual will become knowledgeable of MEA construction, electrochemical procedures, and component testing processes for which instrumentation is requiredPerform laboratory experiments, collect and analyze test data in consultation with the materials scientist, lead engineer and corrosion scientist.Run corrosion experiments and maintain the related equipment and tracking system for samples and chemical supplies in accordance with the established procedures.Actively drive continuous improvement.Perform detailed tests on fuel cell components as per an established test plan to measure material properties.Support component integration into fuel cell stacks via email, report and application documentation (Windchill).Identify and define problems during assigned experiments, suggest improvements to the team and implement solutionsUtilize excel, JMP or other programming languages to plot and present data.Develop and write reports or presentations based on tests conducted.Become familiar with key stack components and performance parameters.Review and revise technical documentation and reports when necessary to ensure accurate operating procedures.Communicate with engineering staff to resolve design details and problems.Participates in cross functional teams to provide input with respect to analytical characterization of samples.Always represent Plug Power in a professional manner and in all interactions.Flexibility is a must in ever changing business environmentPerform all other duties as assignedEducation and Experience BS/BA in chemistry, mechanical / chemical engineering, electrochemistry, material science or other relevant field of study; Associates / high school degree with 3+ years related work experience in testing complex products such as fuel cells, renewables, energy storage will also be consideredPrior laboratory experience requiredStrong organizational abilities and attention to detailProficiency with Microsoft Office softwareUncompromising dedication to qualityTeamwork oriented and focusedExcellent task-oriented follow-throughPay Rate:$62,700.00 - $94,050.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
