Advanced Sourcing Manager – Electro/Mechanical Status: Exempt (salaried)Department: ProcurementPosition SummaryThe Advanced Sourcing Manager will work with multi-functional teams to lead development of the category strategy – managing the sourcing cycle, identifying, and introducing breakthrough ideas and technology, best in class approaches, sustainability, and supplier relationship management. This role will balance strategic and tactical projects to ensure reliable and robust delivery of technology roadmap allied to reduction in total cost of ownership within the category.  In addition, the Advanced Sourcing Manager manages a team of Sourcing Engineers, setting expectations and guiding the team on effective operations. Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimize strategic sourcing strategy and processes within the category to deliver business goals and improve Plug Power’s competitive advantage.Lead collaboration with stakeholders and internal teams to understand and define future product and business needs. Help establish commercial and technical requirements, scope and criteria for engineering development projects.Lead the development of Plug Power’s supplier panel concurrently with engineering.  Drive category market research, identify trends, drivers and regulations that may impact supply chain.Create, issue and manage requests for information (RFIs) for new components and support the procurement team with request for quotes (RFQs) as needed. Manage proposal evaluation and final vendor selection within Plug Power’s supplier panel.Develop expertise in the category supporting commodity manager and buyer negotiations to champion and secure total cost of ownership reductions for the category.As necessary, create and enforce tools, systems, training and reports to track team performance and ensure accountability.Represent Plug Power at supplier meetings, conferences, exhibitions where necessary.Perform other duties as assigned.Travel will be required 30% of the timeEducation and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; engineering degree highly preferred10 years functional procurement experience, managing categories and stakeholders in the automotive, chemical, hydrogen, or oil and gas sectors.Supervisory experience with an established track record of leading a team.Strong leadership skills including daily communications with the team and with internal customers.Experience in successfully leading and conducting contract negotiation across technical, commercial, and legal areas.Experience in building and sustaining effective supplier relationships.Cross functional project management and / or change management experience.Strong interpersonal skills – able to manage stakeholders in a matrix structure and develop relationships as trusted business partner.Good commercial acumen, understanding of the business context to make sound judgements / recommendations.Capability to quickly understand complex systems and learn key component characteristics / interactions.Strategic thinking and creative problem solving with the ability to balance multiple projects / priorities to completion under tight deadlines.Exempt employees are expected to work as many hours as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.  This may require they work more than eight hours a day and more than five days or 40 hours per week.Pay Rate:$86,815.00 - $138,904.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
