Fuel Cell Systems ModelerPosition SummaryThe Fuel Cells System Modeler is a vital team member in the Engineering Organization to support Plug Power’s hydrogen fuel cell systems development. As part of our Engineering Analysis Center of Excellence, the Fuel Cells System Modeler is responsible for creating a mechanical, thermal, chemical, and electrical model of fuel cell systems for use in understanding the performance of deployed and in-development products.   The system variables and components include but are not limited to fuel cell stacks, humidification, pumps, air compressors, hydrogen anode loops, and battery hybridization and how they are integrated into a vehicle powertrain.  The resulting models will be used to trade off materials and system decisions/configurations toward optimal power density, heat rejection, controls development, and system durability.   The successful candidate must be a skilled collaborator who can engage cross-functionally with other CAE engineers, component/systems owners, manufacturing, and management to align efforts and synergize work activities affecting hydrogen fuel cells.  This position is critical to ensuring the deployment of optimal hydrogen fuel cell systems to our highly valued customers.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesApply commercial and open-source modeling tools for electro-mechanical design of fuel cell systemsAbility to develop models for innovative system designs for electrochemical performance, efficiency, and heat rejectionWork to thoroughly understand Plug Power’s fuel cell system projects including but not limited to: customer requirements, usage parameters, troubleshooting history, supply chain restrictions, design limitations, and key performance indicatorsCollaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to determine feasibility of conceptual designsBuild relationships and engage in regular communications with cross-functional colleagues in departments such as: field service, supply chain, and quality to understand the functional requirements of fuel cells for eachApply previous experience with system modeling to analyze and develop new system processesFlexibility and interest in using new software and modeling programs.Collaborate with external partners, such as university teams, to create new systems concepts and ideasPrepare/present design analysis reportsRepresent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactionsPerform all other duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceMinimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, Master’s or PhD a significant plusA minimum of Five (5) years of experience in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with an emphasis on electro-chemical, chemical, or electro-mechanical systemsExperience with programming in multitude of environments such as process simulation environments particularly unsteady-state software (GTSUITE/AMESIM/gPROMS/ASPEN) as well as engineering programming MatLab/Simulink, Python, and related softwareExperience in any of the following spheres of activity is preferred and highly valued:Fuel cell systemsVehicle powertrainsHybrid systemsAbility to travel as needed in the domestic U.S. to vendor sites and collaboratorsStrong verbal and written communication skillsUncompromising dedication to qualityAbility to manage complex projects and multi-task effectivelyExcellent follow-throughMust be driven and self-motivatedPay Rate:$75,240.00 - $112,860.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
