Director of Procurement Status: Exempt (Salaried)Department: Integrated Supply ChainOverviewPlug Power is a leading provider of clean, reliable, and cost-effective hydrogen and fuel cell solutions for industrial applications.  The Director of Procurement is responsible for developing a strategic approach for procurement and material management processes for the purchase of direct and indirect goods and services. In this leadership role, the successful candidate will direct the procurement of goods and services for Plug. Additionally, assist Procurement team members and colleagues with procurement processes, change and updates including but not limited to other procurement-related activities; develop and/or update procurement policies and procedures; and develop a centralized procurement programs that will add value and efficiency to the organization. Your team will have tactical responsibility for the development and implementation of policies, procedures and systems that support the company’s acquisition and materials management of goods and services – for both resale, customer integration and internal use.Core Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop and communicate a procurement business plan; establish, communicate, and implement long-term goals for the department to promote effectiveness and efficiency.Translates strategic and tactical business plans into purchasing operational plans. Has latitude to make operational decisions within broadly defined parameters and decision require a high level of judgement. Establishes the direction, goals, implementation strategy and policies of the department.Develop, communicate, and administer procurement team performance and development plans and appraisals.Serve as the primary contact for procurement related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation and alignment by all departments.Oversee contract development and administration.Key leadership point of escalation with suppliers/strategic partners, managing policy roll out, performance escalation, and ensuring on time and efficient delivery of critical production materials.Develop and implement procurement-related training programs for the procurement team and organization.Manage current procurement policies, procedures, and programs with a focus on their ability to enhance organizational value and efficiency; meet regularly with respective departments regarding procurement for their understanding and/or recommendations to enhance policies, procedures and develop, communicate, and implement new/revised policies, procedures and programs as needed.Develop a centralized procurement program that adds value and efficiency to the organization.Process purchase orders; develops bids and proposals; and reconcile any invoice discrepancies.Advises senior administrators in implementing programs, new initiatives, and special projects.Education and ExperienceMaster’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and eight years of experience.5+ years of experience in Management within a manufacturing environment5+ years of experience in all phases of the procurement process (identifying business requirements, drafting RFPs, negotiations, contracting, supplier management.) Three (3) years of experience directly supervising and developing a high-performing procurement team.Knowledge of and experience with ERP systems (i.e., Oracle, PeopleSoft, Colleague, etc.)Experienced working with automated eProcurement and accounts payable systems.Experienced working in a public agency environment or community college.Experienced dealing with a variety of legal, liability, and insurance administration issues.Experienced in risk management and loss control.Experienced in contract negotiations.Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.Excellent follow-through and extremely high sense of urgency.Exceptional communication and listening skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to role model high standards of professionalism.Ability to mentor junior staff members.Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support implementation across global business units/operations.Pay Rate:$106,849.00 - $170,958.00We offer a fantastic total rewards package at Plug, and a brief summary is below:✓ Base salary is determined on a number of factors including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
