As a manager in this team, you will have an opportunity to build and deliver high-performance, scalable high-quality mobile apps with a large customer base. You will work with a highly motivated team in mobile technologies, who are eager to innovate every day together with you. You will communicate on daily basis with a product management team and UI/UX team. As part of this team, you will work closely with cross-functional teams across geographic locations to ensure product delivery & customer commitments are met on time.What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?Manage a highly skilled engineering team and drive/guide the design and development of the VMware mobile applications.Take ownership of product quality, user experience, and security part of the product.Work with customers to address their immediate challenges and gather feedback for the team roadmap. Our products are critical to our customers, and you will cooperate with our support team to make sure our customer needs are met.Perform analysis of complex tasks or situations that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors.Success in the role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?You will join an experienced management team and onboard with the delivery processYou and your team will be responsible for delivering new features of VMware mobile applications.You would assume the people management responsibilities of a small team of highly skills software engineers.During your first two months on the job, you will be expected to build your knowledge in the domain and the technology your team is already building. To do so you will participate in the team’s scope and architectural discussion, work with your peer managers and customers.By the sixth month, we expect you to be in full control of the deliverables of your team. You would work with your peer managers & product management team to build the product backlog, scope the projects working with your team members, make sure that they are delivered on-time and with the expected qualityWhat type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?You will be part of the leadership for a stellar team that delivers a world class mobile applicationYou will be responsive to customer and product asks and escalations and help prioritize engineering work, from whole initiatives to sprint tasks.You should be doing regular 1:1 with your direct reports, discussing short term and long term goals and setting them up for success!Being a people manager, you will also be responsible for compensation planning, performance bonus planning and hiring.You will be responsible for Day-to-Day engineering activities such as sprint planning, measuring the velocity of the team using agile methodology metricsYou should have great communication and presentation skills.You will also provide technical leadership and direction for our engineers.Culturally, the team is focused on innovation, customer value, execution and growth.
